Not a big problem. Just don't turn off the ipad. I never turn off my ipad. Only put to standby mode.

Ipad can play .mov in h264 but only in Main profile 3.1.

It won't support high profile 4.1 due to higher compression which requires faster cpu.

So i guess mkv in high profile 4.1 will not work in iPad.

I would not recommend suction type car mount for use in car. Suction cup always come loose and you never know when it come loose and therefore you risk dropping your ipad when it happens. The ipad weight is also very heavy for the suction cup told hold especially in moving environment.

I bought one from ebay that clip on to the head rest and it works pretty good after some modification. It has a ball joint for adjusting the angle of the ipad but the ipad is just too heavy for it so i did some mod to make it work.

I use it for movies for my 2 girls mounted on the head rest so the can seat confortable on the back seat without having to hold the ipad.

Usually my budget for screen protectors is low - all my smartphones I just use cheap type RM 10 range - works well for me. But for the iPad I splurge this amount as it is a big screen and unlike phones where time spend using is minimal - it could be hours on the iPad. Before that I use a RM30+ quality - it was poor and attracts fingerprint smudges making the ipad unsightly

What version ios you jailbreak? Mine is 3.2.2 and i'm reluctant to go to 4.2.1 due to teethered jailbreak.

Go download xvid4psp. Is the best software to convert video for psp, handphones and even iPad.
Get it here

Just remember to use these settings.

video format - .mov
Codec - x264
Encoding Mode - 1 pass bit rate (or 2 pass bitrate...much longer conversion time but great quality)
AVC profile - Main Profile (don't use High profile as the iPad is not fast enough to decode the video)
AVC level - 3.1
Bitrate - 1800 for animations and 3500 - 4000 for regular movies.
Audio - convert to stereo if you are converting from 5.1 etc

Ipad do not need screen guard. But most people still put on screen guard just to protect it from scratches.
