I've become very interested in tablet lately. Never owned any Apple product so iPad 2 might be the first one for me to own.

But got a few question about iPad:
1. Can it play the normal divx/xvid/wmv/avi files?
2. If so, can I play these files from an external memory (usb, ext. hdd)
3. Youtube is important, but I read iPad doesn't support Flash.
4. How well does the iPad do as a device that surf webpage?
5. You think I might have to wait around 9 months for the iPad 2 to hit Msia?

Anyone with an iPad, in real world performance, especially for web surfing via wi-fi only, how long does the battery life last?

5-6 hours without off the screen? whistling.gif  anyway longer than you expect...longer than n8  laugh.gif

Not sure why the need to compare it with N8. I never consider tablet to be a mobile phone substitute when it comes to web surfing / media player.

All I can see what tablet for (to me) is a great way to sit down on the couch, relax, and do some web surfing.

frames per sec means what? this one actually for what? sorry lol if this is a stupid question.

It means how many images can be produce per second. So the higher the number, the better.

Will not be so soon... And the price is unknown yet sad.gif

It is safe to assume that the price will be the same as with the original iPad when it was first released for Malaysia market (RM 1,6k++ for the lowest price model).

By the way, if I were to buy iPad in Malaysia (and some apps from the App Store), do I require to use credit card?

Well now I see some of those iPad 2 seller at trading section are in desperate to sell off their iPad 2, giving excuses like "NO MORE QUEUE", yet still priced higher than a spanking new iPad 2!

Agree with u. Since my N8 is having 3G and GPS. I see no reason for me to spend extra to get the 3G version ipad2. Might aswell buying bigger memory unit.

I don't really trust the GPS unit in either phone/ipad because their accuracy is really unbearable in Malaysia as our country is full or sharp and small corner.

The Rm400 can be used to top up a bit to buy a really accurate Garmin StandAlone GPS which is much much much more accurate even indoor.

Bro, you tried your N8 as hotspot with iPad? Works ok?

Not having ipad. waiting for ipad 2 tomorrow. Didnt bought it last time bcoz no camera.
BTW, my n8's wifi tethering works well with my friends ipad 1 wifi.

edit : and  1 more reason for non-3g unit, i do not use ipad when outside of house, school compound, cafe, aka wifi-zone. No point using large plate when walking on the road. nothing to show-off. Using handphone is sufficient to do many task when mobilizing around.

I also have no iPad but always wanted one, also I have the N8 so we're in the same boat!

What app you use to teether to your friend's iPad?

Agree. It was annoying, had to play around with the number and finally resort to using land line. I don't know why mobile number is so difficult to add.

Well I put in office number since I'm always around. Its my first time buying from online store so I don't know how it will be for those that do not have land line.

Yeah I know MiFi. Couldn't get my hands on it at this moment so that's why I'm figuring out ways.
If you know connectify, it has successfully used my 3G broadband as a wifi via the PC when connected to my brother's ipod recently. I'm not sure Windows bits ver. have something to do with it but it's infuriating.  shakehead.gif  shakehead.gif
I don't think ad-hoc could work because tried relentlessly without success.  yawn.gif

I tried Celcom 3G + Win 7 + Ad-Hoc Wi-Fi, and it works well (to another laptop). Did you set the Internet sharing in Windows 7?

Too bad I have no iPad 2 to try out the Ad-Hoc Wi-Fi.

Got a question. A shop claim to be Apple Reseller, but is selling iPad 2 by RM100-RM150 above market price because excuse that the iPad 2 comes from Singapore stock, and had to foot the airport tax + delivery to justify the price.

Is there any truth to this?

Not sure bout the tax but base on currency conversion, Singapore entry level set are around RM60-80 more expensive than Malaysia set.

Well main question is, are Apple Resellers are allowed to sell iPad 2 (16gb wifi) at RM100-RM150 more than the retail price of RM1499?
