Can I start playing WOW if I just pruchase the WOW Cataclysm CD-Key/Retail Box ?

Just buy the box , install, register and play ? that easy ?

alternatively u can get tw version, less populated and less pvp

you will need vanilla wow up 2 WOTLK b4 able to play catalysm

night time, queue about 300 - 600, need wait 10 - 30 mins


well, much than US servers 3k+ queue, 2 hours i guess.

Taiwan servers , well less people , less pvp (a lot of ally) and language barrier there

wow taiwan, less people, but the realm "angry messenger" i am playing on still need to queue up one wor. during night time.

300 - 600 queue position, 10 - 30 mins.

but yeah, language barriers for folks who do not read mandarin.

still can use english client but will not be able to communicate with the local taiwan players since most taiwan players not very good in english.

Language is a problem for me in TW. I can't read Chinese.

Standard = RM50
Burning Crusade = RM50
WOTLK = RM120
Cataclysm = RM145

Total = RM365

Guess I'll have to pass for now then.

yup, wow US servers quite mahal entry cost.
but for wow taiwan, can use english client, just that unable to communicate with local taiwan mandarin typing players lor.

if still wanna play wow taiwan, can join english speaking wow taiwan guilds i suppose.

it is not really that expensive if you get the expansion gradually but yes a large sum if you get them 1 go

vanilla - lvls 1-60
bc - unlocks 60-70 + outland + draenei/blood elf
wotlk - unlocks 70-80 + nothrend + death knight
cata - unlocks 80-85 + worgen/goblin

so you can start with vanilla and make get your remaining expansions gradually, although you dont get to enjoy the additional race from the expansions tats all

the death knight class requires a lvl 60 character to unlocks so not much impact anyway

DK Needs WOTLK anyway

Just buy classic and do it , level up. Once you are happy , move on to burning crusade , you gotta move slowly

If i buy just the game card and have the whole 4 installations from my friend, is tht possible ?

to start wow from scratch
you need:
60day game card(for some reason its a must, we still don't understand why?)

the vanilla wow game code, which you can get from buying the game.
once you activate it, you get extra 30 day free game time,
in total, you get 90 days game time in your 1st start.

TBC game code,
note, you can get 2 of them(vanilla, tbc) in one buy in the world of warcraft: battle chest, its cheaper.

Wrath of the lich king game code.
then finally catalysm game code.

atlong as you have full patch, and active your account you can start play(but face a few limitation).


have the whole 4 installations is a good start,
you can get the vanila 10 day trial account 1st try it before you decide to buy the full set.
totally free, for 10 days.
but you can only level to level20, can't trade with other player,
can't create blood elf, dreanai, and death knight.

Game cards and game codes are very different things. Game cards just allow you to play for a certain amount of days like prepaid phones. Game codes are the CD-Key you use to create/upgrade your EXISTING WoW account.
