I notice your dragonfly shot are very impressive but some other shots with N8 aren't. You have some special trick to do it or you simply have better lighting and more steady hands?

You are West and I am East. Don't think possible.

So how far away was your N8 to the subject? I assume there are no manual override on where to focus?

May I ask, are these photo 'raw' and without further editing using photoshop etc?

And how far was the subject from your N8?

You sure is very familiar with the N8's camera performance. Based on what's so far being posted on the internet, what's your opinion of the N9's camera performance?

I cant comment that atm like u said different ppl post differently. I can only comment when i experience it myself.

Everything we do are the same its like you drive a car at high speed. You must know when to accelerator , when to brake, when to corner, when to overtake, when to drive slow, how to tune your car, how to be alert while driving.

Without all above u still can drive like photography u still can take photo..But if u want the best performance out of your car or device you must learn step by step master the art.

Use the same logic back to photography.

I not only do it for N8 but C7 and E7 too check it out
http://www.flickr.com/photos/thenokiagalle...57624933045167/

Most of us when we see something we believe it cant be done because most ppl cant do it. But have u ever take the time to study the photo? Question yourself how can i do it? How he/she do it? Invite the person out to see how it is done? Nope most of us assume it cant be done.

I have an E series but it only have fixed focus camera but I often take photos of wordings in newspaper/brochure/product serial numbers/name cards etc and I don't think any amount of skill can overcome the lack of macro or close up shot ability, hence looking at the N8.

those photos are to show what EDOF camera are capable of

In good light and for object a fair distance of, surely no problem for majority of camera. It's close up that's the problem and the reason for change...

Very very impressive. Would have seriously consider getting this instead of N8 if not because of their free-everything GPS.

Some of the photos posted are not nice/clear/detailed/sharp/artistic etc. They do not show the prowess of the hardware nor much artistic value. I wondered why people posted them. However, IMO, some do serve a purpose. For example, some people tried to show the prowess of their N8 (aspire2006 is a good example) or SG2 or Arc so other potential buyer of phone can judge for themselves. But then there are also lousy photos taken with the same phone being posted here. What’s the point? Some are so blur as to be embarrassing or are they trying to discourage people from buying the same N8/SG2/Milestone etc?

So far with my new N8, the macro shots are very good and definitely nothing to complaint about. The video recording are good. But photos taken with normal lighting are merely average and fails to impress. Some photos with flash looks downright terrible with whitish glare on many of them (yes, I have removed the plastic covering). Not sure what's wrong.

Nokia n8 or xperia arc camera better?

Some reviews on Net say N8 better. But then again, some blog says the N8 camera is even better than a dedicated compact digital camera but since I have an N8, I couldn't see that to be possible.

Yes indeed true

Day time - Nokia N8 wins

Night time / Low light - X10 & ARC wins

The reason why nokia N8 is weak in low light because it compensate with a Xenon flash when X10 & ARC do not have.
Why don't you just turn off the Xenon flash?

BTW, don't know how you do it but your macro shots look amazing. Couldn't do it myself.

She looks better in frontal shot. The lighting is better also, gives more 'wow' factor. The wooden structure behind and above her head is a distraction.

I don't know how you people managed to get such good N8 shot. I could always get excellent macro shot but lousy other shots.
