May I ask what are the settings on the N8 when you took these pictures? I thought the quality of these two pictures is a bit washed out ie. faded colors and the contrast is pretty poor.

Are there many settings on the N8 to tweak so as the picture quality will turn out good?

Any advice from experienced N8 users would be appreciated.

Yes, this is much better with better definition and sharper colors. In comparison the previous pictures look "soft".

I'm looking to purchase the N8 when it is preloaded with the Symbian Anna and need to be convinced that the quality of the camera is its biggest strength and forte. The 12MP Carl Zeiss lens loaded camera and OVI maps/navigation system are the top two desirable features for me.

that's depend on skill whistling.gif

i could say that's heavy rely on lighting. in the end i think you just go the shop and test the phone your self better. all my photos are use original camera software capture. got some photo adjusted curve for better result otherwise random shot i dont give a lot effort on that.

Photography is how you use light to your advantage. Light can be your friend or your enemy.

If u see noise appearing on your photo it means that angle you are taking have insufficient light. Try move to another angle.

Aspire2006. The pictures in the NokiaGallery are excellent.

By the way, I stumbled upon a thread that describes on ways to take great pictures with the N8. If you have any inputs please feel free to share how you obtain great quality pictures with the N8. Cheers.

Question :

It's great that you shared your findings on the N8. I own the N8 but don't know how to go about with the camera settings. Images are not of good clarity. Are there any settings that can be changed before taking a picture?

Answer :

Hi! Well, it depends on settings you use to capture good picture quality.

Example: When you want to take pictures at a distance of 10-60 cm, use macro mode (Close-up mode / flower icon) as i have stated above. And make sure you have to hold the N8 very still so that pictures will not blurred.

Here are the Scene Modes for taking pictures as stated above:

Automatic - ideal for everyday photography, all camera settings are adjusted automatically.
User defined - create, edit and save your own personalised scene mode settings.
Close-up - ideal for capturing small objects at a distance of 4 inches - 2 feet (10-60 centimeters).
Portrait - Ideal for capturing portrait images.
Landscape - Ideal for distant scenery and skylines.
Sport - ideal for fast moving objects.
Night - ideal for capturing images in low light without flash.
Night portrait - ideal for taking portraits in low light with flash.

For other settings like white balance, exposure, etc...its about experimenting the settings. It's a little bit confusing for the first time but i enjoy doing it. I will take picture with experimented settings then i will check it if it's good enough. If not, i will delete the picture and experiment again adjusting some of settings. Sometimes i take pictures with different settings and comparing it. :-)

Anyway, regardless of settings, the important thing to remember is to hold the N8 very still and prevent shaking to prevent blurred picture result. Try your best, have fun taking pictures. :-)

Ravenlost, I am not an N8 user yet and do not have any clue to your question. Sorry I can't be of any help. Some experienced N8 users can probably chime in.

Agito666- thread amended to include the spoiler.

Agito666, the pictures look good, especially the 2nd picture.

Anyway I am very impressed with the pictures shown in the thread below.

http://conversations.nokia.com/2011/04/14/...ain-from-above/

When blown up to the biggest (original) size, the images are still quite respectable. Maybe it has got something to do with top-notch aerial photographer Jason Hawkes in handling the Nokia N8.

Added on August 12, 2011, 11:01 amThat's it I am getting the N8 once the Anna preloaded version hits the local market.
