a) GETTING THE ISO FILE

1. Go to http://rescuedisk.kaspersky-labs.com/rescuedisk/updatable to download Kaspersky Rescue Disk 2010. It is free!!

b) UPDATE KASPERSKY RESCUE DISK

2. Download this and unzip it. It is updater tool for Kaspersky Rescue Disk.

3. In the extracted folder “kasresupd10”, paste your downloaded iso here. The name of iso must be kav_rescue_10, otherwise it will not works.

4. Updating the database for the first time is painful to wait. To make it easy I uploaded the latest definition here. Download here (11/12/2010) Optional

5. After you have extract the file, copy folder “Updates” and paste it into KLUpdater folder inside kasresupd10. This will make the updater get updates from the folder “Updates” without need to download updates again.

C) BURN ISO IMAGE INTO USB

Actually, you can either burn iso image into cd or usb. But I strongly recommend you to burn iso into usb as the rescue disk need to up to date before using it.

10. There are various method to accomplish this task. You can use your installed kaspersky to burn the image. In case you do not have kaspersky installed in
your computer, download this tool here

11. Run rescue2usb and click Install. Kaspersky USB Rescue Disk will automatically run and selected your USB flash drive letter.

12. Click the Browse button and browse for the location of kav_rescue_2010.

13. Click the Start button and this tool will first prompt you to format your USB flash drive if it is not empty followed by installing Grub loader and copying the
Kaspersky Rescue Disk 10 ISO file. When the process has been completed, you can boot up your computer with this USB flash drive.

***To keep Kaspersky Rescue Disk up to dated, copy your rescue disk iso which you have been updated ago inside kasresupd10 folder and run diskupt.
Make sure to rename it first to kav_rescue_10. A new one iso will created. Burn the new one into usb.
