Hi guys, I am pretty new to this DLNA scene and reading about it kinda give me a headache, sign of aging as new tech is giving headache these days.

My question is kinda simple, could I use DLNA method to project my screen on laptop to a DLNA enabled TV something something like plugging HDMI to the TV on my laptop.

Thanks. smile.gif

Yes, you can do that but not in the way of projecting laptop screen on TV.

The laptop can configured to be a media server with the appropriate software. Windows 7 has a built-in DLNA-compatible media server (Windows Media Player 12) that can be configured to stream media over your home network.

Next, your LCD TV needs to be connected to your home network and has DLNA capability. The LCD TV "will" recognise your laptop as a media server and be able to play contents through your home network.

But, personally, DLNA is a pain-in-the-ass to setup at this point in time. Too many limitations and many popular video formats cannot be easily streamed. Better to a get a media player with networking feature, IMHO.

I understand the concept you described, meaning that the TV will be used to read the media stored inside your laptop. Your laptop will be a media server. But I am not interested in doing so.

The reason I asked was that because I wanted to play streaming video such as youtube from my laptop directly to the TV wirelessly, But I understand that's currectly technologically impossible.
