Dear members, im having an Edifier R501 system and its running on Dolby 5.1... But currently my Astro and my DVD player doesn't suooprt 5.1... Heard about something called 5.1 dolby decoder can any1 give some comments? Can i use tat for this system? where can i get it and whats the price range? thanks~~

this amplifier+speaker is actually design for connection with PC, it is amplifier only system, accept anolog audio inputs, no digital processing capability at all

I know creative do have such decoder as well but not sure still got sell or not.

Your Edifier R501 can only accept decoded 5.1 analog audio signals from a PC or a DVD player with 5.1 analog out. Standard Astro (non-B.yond) is only stereo.

If you are looking to get a Dolby Digital/DTS decoder box to bridge the gap between your speakers and your DVD player, you might as well get either a HTiB or a receiver. The decoder box is only going to use up too much of your money for its limited functions.
