hey guys.. need to ask some questions..

I'm currently graduated.. degree in IT but graduation is scheduled to December. Interested in taking Microsoft's and Cisco's certification course but after surfed through a few thread on this topic I had decided to take CCNP.

So, the questions are:

* Am I eligible to apply under the SLG?
* In your opinion, which certification should I take considering that I am a fresh IT graduate. Personally, I prefer Cisco.
* Which training centre that is recommended?
* How to apply for the certification course under SLG?

Thank you guys!

Best Regards! thumbup.gif

* Am I eligible to apply under the SLG?

Yes you are if you meet all the requirement set by psmb... like grad in IT/CS and has been unemploy for 6 months and above...

* In your opinion, which certification should I take considering that I am a fresh IT graduate. Personally, I prefer Cisco.

this is a question which you have to ask yourself... see which path which filed you are more interested in and would like to go for as your career path in coming future... Yes someone can tell you this is good and so and so... but if your interest is not there, no point going after is as well.... All 3 MCSE CCNP and LSA has its advantages. If you are into hardware networking then CCNP might best suit you... MCSE as its name suggested, you will learn all about Microsoft's product, like XP, Server 2003, and etc etc... LSA which is Linux System Administrator is also demanding in the current market... So if you are into unix here's a good start.

* Which training centre that is recommended?

No specify center but just make sure you choose wisely... I have heard center with "read-from-slide" trainer, and etc... Usually good training center will have tons of praises either in word of by mouth...

* How to apply for the certification course under SLG?

All you need to apply SLG are
- Look for a training center
- Certified true copy all your photocopy documents
- and not to forget submit application form ASAP...
here is a link which might come handy

sad to say but yeap you are not qualify to go for the CCNP, but still eligible for MCSE / LSA... Don't view these cert lightly as each of em carry certain value in it...
*
yeah.. i understand that.. i decided to take CCNP because I'm interested in networking. Guess, there is no other way to take CCNP unless i pay for it. sad.gif

so.. may i know what is the registration procedures.. eg. what to bring, etc.

how about payment? do i need to pay anything during registration.. or i have to pay a portion of the course fee and claim in later from psmb??

deciding to take mcse instead.. and maybe save enough money and go for CCNA/CCNP later.. is MCSE and MCSA a different course?

yeap only RHB or BSN, maybe in a way it is easier to manage when come to the time to bank in allowance to us, and some other reason... who know... only psmb know why... but no prob with that... just get an account like what i did... rm50 can open an acc with bsn alr... so no big deal...
*
ohh, i see.. luckily i didn't close my RHB account that i opened when working before studying for my degree.. thanks!

oh, u're doing MCSE in TrainPro now? mind telling me how is the environment and the trainers there ah?? and when is the next intake ah?? thanks again! notworthy.gif

MCSE and MCSA is the same... it just like your higher diploma and degree... before you can get MCSE, you need to go through MCSA...  cool.gif ...
MCSE there are 7 papers... once you passed any of these papers, you will be entitled a Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP)...  cool.gif ...
you will be entitled a Microsoft Certified System Administrator (MCSA) if you passed four of these 7 papers...  cool.gif ...
for sure you will need to pass all of these 7 papers to get yourself a title of Microsoft Certified System Engineer...  cool.gif ...
*
thanks for the info again, lyk! i'm gonna study hard after i get myself registered!! thumbup.gif

Im doing CCNP in TrainPro, well it is a good place to learn I must say, as it has all DELL p4 pc, and LCD screen too thumbup.gif Despite that they do have very well trained trainer to conduct the class. Trainer are friendly and helpful...

but for your info, trainpro has close its intake for this oct batch on both CCNP and MCSE. TrainPro decided not to continue with this SLG thing and this will be the last batch... For SLG you might need to apply else where... IMS is recommended for CCNP and as for MCSE might want to look in GV or Info Trek... Staff there told me that for MCSE to simulate some server-client environment if they have p4 pc then student no need to share pc, can run some virtual memory application to simulate it out. In other word student get more hands-on exercise on it, instead of you do server I do client simulation... that's what's im being told....

Hope these info help!!

Can provided you found a job..

does that mean that i have to find a job before the training arrangement?
just inform the training center and the psmb only right?

another thing.. if i was attached to a company for practical training.. and found another job or job offers.. can i stop?

What i wan is...certificate that can guarantee me a job. Between this two cert which one can guarantee better future?

If i choose CCNP, izzit i dun have to touch any coding. Actually i dun really like programming stuff...
*
no offence, k? just a 2 cents of mine..
actually, we shouldn't have these kinda mindset. certification = guaranteed job...
even though it is a fact that most employers tend to employ someone with pro certification than someone who doesn't. if we purely think that cert will give me lots of job opportunities, what we learn during the course are not based on our interest and therefore, we learn for the sake of the cert and not for the knowledge itself. nevertheless, it has been one of my reason for taking mcse course but it's not the priority but i want to learn something new and want the employer hire me because of my knowledge and skills rather than just a certification and a limited skills and knowledge.

cheers~ biggrin.gif

hi, i graduated with an IT degree and am currently working. planning to upgrade my skills by taking mcse cert, but don't wanna take up the class. thinking of doing self learning and then register for exam when ready. Anyone can advise me with the best books to buy for mcse, and maybe anyone has 2nd hand books for sale. I prefer if anyone wants to sell the whole mcse kit. thanks...pls pm or sms me. 0126375253
*
most ppl would not recommend u to do so.. because the exam is not based on the book.. it's more like a life-example.. it would be recommended to attend the course as it deals with a lot of practical which u can't learn from books..

unless u have the full equipments or setup in ur home..
