The village of La Patrie, Quebec is the home of Norman guitars. La Patrie was settled in 1875 and many of today’s Norman employees can trace their ancestry back to the original settlers. The courage and survival of these pioneers is amazing considering the daunting combination of dense forests, mountains and incredibly harsh winters. We pay tribute to these brave folks here. You’ll see actual pictures of early La Patrie, many of them dating back as far as the early 1900's. It’s a heritage of which we are proud and which has produced a community of hard-working people dedicated to the craft of guitar making.

The first Norman guitars were produced in the early 1970's. In the last thirty years, Norman's reputation for superb quality and excellent value has grown in a grassroots, word-of-mouth kind of way amongst musicians which has earned Norman guitars the distinction of ‘Canada's guitar'. This quiet, testimonial type of marketing has made it possible for us to invest back into the guitars themselves, creating one of the most technically sophisticated guitar building facilities in the world. Our state-of-the-art technology enables us to bring precision and consistency to our guitar crafting heritage which uses premium tonewoods to create truly world class guitars that carry the Norman name.

1) The Norman B20 NAT



The B20 is the original member of the Norman line going back to 1972. It features wild cherry back & sides, a semi-gloss Custom Polished finish and a select pressure tested solid spruce top. The sound (as with all Norman models) will only get better the more the guitar is played overtime.

2) The Norman B18 CW Black 4T



The B18 CW Black 4T is a great option for the performing musician. It features a cutaway (CW) ideal for acoustic solos, allowing for easy access to the upper frets of the fingerboard on the neck It also includes Fishman Classic 4T electronics with built-in tuner, onboard preamp and under-saddle tranducer for quality plugged-in live sound.

Ideal for fingerstyle players, the mid-range frequencies and tonal qualities of the ST40 Folk Cedar with slotted headstock, is in large part due to its smaller body size.

When compared to a standard dreadnaught, this is largely attributed to its wider upper & lower bout and thinner waist.
