Birdemic Blu-ray Announced

Severin Films has announced Birdemic: Shock and Terror for Blu-ray release on February 22. This love story/ horror shocker/ecological movie is an ultra-low budget homage to Alfred Hitchcock's The Birds. Its sequel, Birdemic II: The Resurrection, is being readied for theatrical release in 2011.

The Next Three Days Blu-ray Announced

Lionsgate Home Entertainment has announced The Next Three Days for Blu-ray release on March 8, on a BD/DVD/Digital Copy combo pack. This action thriller, a remake of a 2007 French film, is directed by Paul Haggis and stars Russell Crowe, Elizabeth Banks and Liam Neeson. Despite such a high-profile cast and director, it only grossed $21 million at the box office.

Dogtooth Blu-ray from Kino

Kino Video has announced that it will release Dogtooth (Kynodontas; Yorgos Lanthimos, 2009) on Blu-ray on March 29. This darkly comedic, highly allegorical film about a family raised in absolute seclusion, was listed yesterday as one of the nominees to the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. The studio was initially going to release it on DVD only, but in response to the vocal reaction from enthusiasts on Kino's Facebook page, a BD will also be available.

Release details are still pending.
