Hi, wanna ask. If I don't make kefir all the time, how do I store the grains? How long will they last in storage before they die?

QUOTE(TinyPumpkin @ Oct 7 2014, 10:51 PM) Hi Thanks for the reply! When I want them grains, I'll come back to you. Thank you for your interest. I have stored the grains with an equal amount of milk in the fridge for more than a week without any problem. If you change the milk every week, they can be stored for three weeks in the fridge. Another forumer has stored the grains for almost a month in the fridge (please refer to post #270). Kefir grains can also be freeze-dried but I have never done that. You can also air-dry the kefir grains and store them in an envelope, where they will remain dormant but viable for up to a year; I have never tried that. |
