Just had the 1st batch ...I use different brand of milk - Farm Fresh .
The kefir is a bit thicker than milk , not in liquid form like milk , but not in curd form though , very mild sour taste , the grain is still at the bottom, never float on top .
So not successful for the 1st time right ?
Can still drink it ?
But the grain looks alive .
Doing for 2nd time , hope it gets better .

I culture every 24 hrs .
Its thicker & curd had formed .
The curd expand throughout the jar with just very little whey on top.
The grain is somewhere in the middle & most of it still at the bottom .
But you said :
" The grains are usually distributed all over above the whey. Sometimes the whey stays at the top. " SO , is it successful ?
If I use the same glass jar to culture it , do I need to wash it before the next batch ?

TQ

More questions hihi :

1. Can the kefir put outside at room temperature ( not inside the fridge ) after straining out the grain ?
If yes , for how long it can stand at room temperature ?

2. You mention that the milk that used to feed the grain while storing in fridge ( not kefiring temporary ) , you mix it with milk to drink , why cannot drink directly ?
Other than that , what other use of it ?
Someone said to cook it , but never say how to cook it , any idea ?
& isn't high temperature will destroy the good bac. ?

The curd is thicker & a little more whey on top but the grains are all at the bottom . Bottom was so sticky like gel..

Thank you soooo much .

I have to change the milk to Farm House , because Farm Fresh supply unstable & not everywhere can get . But , Farmhouse are easier to get elsewhere . HOPE they can adapt to change food again .

Tomorrow will check on it .... rolleyes.gif

UPDATE , even though I change the milk , it turned out SO NICE .
Some whey on top & so much in the middle , curd formed with lots of " holes " in between ...YAY ...
So happy looking at it ...
