Dell XPS vent are in the middle most of them...and most of the heat focused in the middle part.......so i personal thinks tat any cooler pad will do...... number of fan and size of fan doesnt matter much....as long as the fan blows strong....any i nvr use the others b4....i onli used u2 b4 so i cant recommend much....

hi guys, i'm thinking of returning my CM Notepal infinite back to the store that i bought it from..
they have lots of other CM notebook coolers too but the problem is, i cant decide which one i should exchange it for. (doesn't matter if its equal/lower/or higher price)
should i get X1, X2 or U3?
X1 has an extra USB port that would be useful to me but it has only one big + unremovable fan and the fan is 120mm.
X2 has an extra USB port too, but it has only one big and also unremovable fan. but the fan is 140mm
U3 has 3 removable fans, and too has one extra USB port. though the fan controller is an extra plus.

i wanna know what you guys think.. all opinions and suggestions welcome smile.gif

p.s.  weight and portability don't matter to me since i dont plan to take it around.. it's just gonna be on my desk.

Well, just sharing my experience with U3.
This is actually my first time purchasing a laptop cooler.
I've chosen the CM U3 over all the others after spending some time at the CM laptop catalog.

So far, my experience with U3 is pretty positive.
Even though, it's huge but it's fairly light weight and the construction is solid enough to support XPS 15.
The removable fans proved useful for custom placement for maximum heat dissipation.

There's a feature of U3 which I haven't tested so far, strapping the laptop on it for traveling.
Due to the sheer size of it, I can't fit it into my backpack so I can only carry it bare which I wouldn't want to.

As usual if u have xps 15, the ur lappy will extra 4 cm from the side......so just barely fits in....im using CM u2 for my xps 15...i oledi own this cooler since my last lappy which was a 12.1 inch hp.....so no point of changing a new one....

Additional fans can be purchased and fitted to any CM U1/2/3 cooler.

Here are some screenshots of startup temperature and gaming temperature for XPS 15 Core i7 and GT 435M
Please take note that I'm using CM U3 when taking these screens.

I set it to max and all 3 fans are positioned to blow at the vents in the center.

I'd say the fans are hardly noticeableeven at max.

My opinion would be as long as there's adequate cooling the temperature would be maintained at a reasonable level.

I'd try to get the temperature readings without cooler as soon as possible

720P will be better if u dun watch movies while play games
full HD on games will decrease the performance a lot if u're not using high end gpu like GTX460m/Ati 5870
