My baby boy is coming to 2 years old soon and my wife and i have difficulty to feed our son formula milk using bottle. I believe the main reason is because he is breastfeed until today.

Any advice or perhaps to share your experience on this situation?

Try using wide neck bottles.

What you said may be one of the reasons. However, I think another reason maybe due to the taste of formula milk. Maybe you can try to ask your wife to express her breast milk and feeding in to your son using bottle. Also, make sure the bottle teat/nipple that you are using has the correct flow

Try putting onions on the breast and let him breastfeed. Someone I know tried before to stop her baby from breastfeeding and it worked!

I had tried using different types of bottle and bottle nipple but he still refuses to drink milk from bottle. Not to mention that my son also do not like pacifier regardless of what type or design.

Actually if you tried bottles and he didnt like them, just upgrade him straight to sippy cups

Yup, this is also an option.. Since he's already 2.

Give him the bottle / cup and everytime he drinks from the cup, compliment him, clever, good job, big boy etc.

that sounds like a solution as well... besides the bottle, can i do anything with the milk... i read from a babywebsite forum, one of the mother actually mix orange juice and milk and according to the mother, her daugher likes it...

I dunno why, but I kinda recoiled when I imagined milk and orange juice. It just doesn't sound like a good idea.. My son's formula is a combination of both the choc flavour + plain or sometimes honey flavored milk powder. He seems to like it. Does your child like chocolate? Maybe can try giving him the choc flavoured milk powder..

oh yah... i ever tried mixing his milk with milo and he loves it... However, he does not like it when i give him the formula milk with chocolate flavour. Maybe there is a different cocoa taste between formula and milo... I didn't mix his milk with milo very often cause i know milo is probably not suitable for toddler and it is also heaty...

Have you tried formula milk? They taste nasty. Most kids in the Western world drink fresh milk instead of formula. I know they're more expensive but at least you dont have to deal with taste issues and God forbid, melamine poisoning and things like that.

I'd opt for Milo + formula if he likes it.

Yup... I've tried before the formula milk and i do agree with you on the taste... As for fresh milk intake, my doctor advised me that it's not good to give toddlers fresh milk. Better to consume formula milk first for now... But i do realize that most western toddlers actually start to consume fresh milk...

have anybody tried mixing formula milk with other substance besides milo or chocolate?

My daughter is fully breastfed & I mixed feed her with fresh milk after she turned 2. You can consider Farmhouse or Puramilk (from Australia). Just make sure it is full fat milk. From 12 months onwards, majority of kid's nutrients should be from solids & not milk.

I face the same problem, till now still refuse bottle, at first ppl giving us all kinda advise, bought so many bottles, soft nips, natural nips, in the end all phail.

Her fav drinking style, put a straw in a cup and she'll sip when she fancy, downside chances of the milk pouring is almost 100%, so we both those bottles with straws attached and solve the problem once and for all.

Wow... Your case is almost the same with mine... My son also seems to prefer to use a straw for drinking... Only difference is, i bought the bottle with straws for him but he still doesn't want to use it...

I've heard from some people saying that NUK milk bottle would be better for the breastfeed babies...

I heard the same thing, got the nuk, mums, glass plastic, switch avent nips, done everything, same results

Same result? Erm..but based on a study by Cambridge, Avent bottles are clinically proven to reduce fussing?
