my rabbit is acting weird.
she stands on her hind legs and grabs my leg with her front paws.
then she rubs her face and tries to bite/nibble (cant tell, cos i always pull my leg away before she sinks her tooth in) me. i'll run but she'll chase me.
shes also starting to "lick" (more like groom) me.

is she in heat or looking for a mate?

thinking of spaying her ard nov/dec after exam. looks like i have to bring forward...

she likes you. thats all. laugh.gif

today my bf took bunneh out from her cage and let her run around the house. I think she's kinda toilet trained a little , coz yesterday when i take the cage from the balcony and put inside , she auto go inside , poop and pee and then come out.

But today , she go pee at the wire there  doh.gif Aiyaaah

when u put your bun to a new place to roam, she will pee and poo in order to mark her territorial.

OK. Time to post about my bunny, Mello.
Bought him at the end of last year from J Jay Petstation. He's a Holland Lop. I think I posted pictures of him on this topic before =]

Now he's reaching 1 year old (He was born around October or November if I remember correctly) and he's been with me for months, but he doesn't seem to be happy at all.

1. He wouldn't eat ANY Timothy hay. I know reading a lot of resources that at 6th month onwards I should gradually switch him to Timothy hay, but Mello wouldn't even touch it. I think he rather die than eat Timothy hay (There was once I tried to not feed him anything but leave Timothy hay in his bowl only for a whole day, but he rather starve than eat it). What can I do about this? I'm continuing to feed him Alfalfa and Pellets since those are the only things he eat, but I don't think this should continue for long.

2. He is VERY timid. He does not like coming out of his cage to play. I can leave the cage open but the only thing he will do is (when I'm gone) walk out and start shredding the newspaper that's put under the cage into a million pieces, and then stomach some of it. Then he will find a corner (or even the gap between the cage and the wall) and just stay there quietly. Similarly, if I bring him to my bed/living area he just finds a corner and just stay there. Really doing my best, but no idea how to get him to warm up to me.

3. He is very easily startled. Like, if you try and touch him also he will startle with a fast jerking motion. Try and pat him and sometimes he will startle and run inside the potty triangle to hide.

4. Refuses to be toilet trained. I tried the tactic where people say you take their poo and newspaper with their pee and place it under the netting in the potty. Done that for months, yet he still prefers pooping and peeing randomly.

Sigh... it's like everything that could go wrong went wrong with how I am having him as my first pet. Don't know what I can do =/ I care about him, I really do. Anybody with any suggestions?

Different bunnies have different personalities. You have a shy bunneh. yawn.gif. I read in the internet that u have to leave it in the cage first , put some hay at the toilet and when it start using toilet onli u let it out.

My bunnie so cuteee. But yet destructive. With me watching her while she do stuffs , she likes to remove the plastic pin ( to insert 2 pin plug ) from electrical cord. Then move away. When i put it back , she runs back there and remove it again!

I'm so lucky that she dont poop n pee everywhere , though sometime i see 1 or 2 poop , and she only pee in hidden corner ( like behind my amplifier ) , once i block there , she wont pee there and control her bladder.

maybe u can try APD's timothy hay 2nd cut. my netherland dwarf from jjpet loves it. rabbits prefer the more leafy and green hay compared to the stalky yellow ones.

have u tried making friends with him by using fruits? my one specially love bananas.

if you wanna catch my bunny, you can use banana and he will automatically come to you. but then i would have to kill you. HAHA biggrin.gif

He won't even come out anyway if I leave the cage door open.

rabbits loves the sweet stuff, dont be bothered too much about veges. but dont give too much. just as a litte treat. make him beg for more, buahahaha.

just try the small 22 ringgit pack first, if he loves it, then u can just get the big box, its cheaper than buying the 22 ringgit pack all the time.

My bunny gave birth to 3 babies 5 days ago... but the sad thing is that i couldn't be with them when they were just born... as the next day i have to be out of town for work... then 2nd day.. 1 baby died... 3rd day... 2 babies died... sad.gif

this is the first time she become a mother... but the weird thing is that i dun see bunch of furs surround... i only see very fine furs flying but which looks like molting.. didn't know she was pregnant.. She keep on stepping on the babies... and separate the 1st baby from the other... then the baby die the next day... sad.gif i know it's natural selection that the mum will know which one is weak but izzit possible that the mum didn't feed them? cuz the mum bunny still has lots of furs below till it covers the bottom part... and for your info.. my bunny is mix breed of lop ear and normal rabbit... she got her ears and long fluffy fur from the lop side...

can anyone tell me what should i do now? she seem depress after 3 of the babies died and keep on staying at the corner of the cage... the first baby she able to make grave for it (with the towel and timothy pile up on top of the dead baby).. but the 2nd one we just remove it and the third one we put the body for half hour with her... the third one died on my fren hands (a bunny lover as well). it's so frustrating and heart broken... >.<

*for your info, my bunnies are outdoor bunnies, and when i know that my chungchung got babies... i immediately buy her some comfy towels and the woodie shredded and put timothy hay to keep the babies warm... i use a rectangular box which is bigger size of my bunny so that she can go in and feed them*

does anyone know how to keep rabbits warm?

in the morning when i feed her i usually feel the ears and its cold. when shes eating it warms up.
im not sure if shes cold or if its normal.

the cage is currently outside.
i used coroplast to cover the side and half the back.
theres also a big plastic to cover everything except the front. the front is facing the sliding door. theres also a golf umbrella.
made her a square "tent" n i covered the bottom with towel.
she has her hay nearby. she sits like a "hen" near the outer part of the "tent".
not sure if this is enough or if i should add a "door" to keep the wind out.
if it rains heavily + strong winds then i'll put her in the carrier in my room.
