QUOTE(dantck @ Dec 22 2011, 11:00 PM) ANTI DIARRHOEAL SUSPENSION hi, u need to be careful, so far, i have yet to come across any antibiotic for rabbit's diarrhea that can get from a pet shop. Rabbit stomach is highly sensitive, only qualified vet will know what sort of antibiotic that can be administrated to rabbit. Do not simply believe what the pet shop people tell u, their job is to sell their product. i do not think they have knowledge on how to treat an animal.http://www.adpost.com/my/pets/53158/ i bought this anti diarhea , the shop recommend to me , coz rabbit small prone to dead from diarhea, i check first ingredient is metroxxxxxxxx scientifiic thing, i check website it is antibiotic to fight bacteria ..... just want check is it good......... a rabbits digestive system has a natural flora where we call good bacteria that that helps it's digestive system.. if u simply give antibiotics it might disruspt the balance and makes the condition worse and rabbits are highly dependednt on the bacteria in their stomach and gut.. so doont simply give medication to rabbits.. consult a vet.. eat more hay and reduce wet foods like fresh vegetable.. try giving the oxbow critical care if ur rabbit is not eating

Rabbits are very sensitive and only a few antibiotics are recommended. Reason being, they depend heavily on the good gut flora to survive. Antibiotics will kill the good bacteria in their stomach and cause them to have stomach problems.
Antibiotics is not the solution to your baby rabbit dying problem. The common baby rabbit tummy problem is caused by the imbalance of gut flora in the stomach. Instead of killing both bad and good (already diminished) bacteria in the stomach, you should boost the number of good bacteria to help the baby rabbit make a come back. Probiotic can help at this stage. Prevention is better than cure. When your baby rabbits start to nibble on solids, make sure they are getting fresh grass hay. I normally avoid Alfalfa hay altogether and in fact, I do not use Alfalfa hay at all. Reason being, most pellets in the market already made of Alfalfa so giving them grass hay like Timothy Hay is better. Added on December 29, 2011, 4:28 pmI would not depend too much on how green the hay looks like because some hay in the market are dyed with color. Just go with the fresh smell.... The vets there are ok but I find their charges quite expensive. Ask for quotation from a few places before you decide on a vet.
