Ok not sure if this is the right place to ask but I'll ask anyway.
My housemate is thinking of our normal cable modem to a wireless modem.
I'm currently using the normal 1mb cable connection. If I switch my modem to a wireless modem, does that mean I can connect without any cables (like wifi)?
Or do I need to call Streamyx to tell them that I've changed to a wireless modem and let them configure stuffs on their side?
Or do I actually have to terminate my account and register for some wireless package that I hear Sreamyx are offering?

Its not that simple is it?

Yes you can connect without any cable, using wifi. No, you don't need to call streamyx or anything like that since its just a simple hardware change smile.gif . And no, you don't need to terminate or re register anything, just use the current subscribed package.

Don't forget to setup that wireless modem (if it has auto-connect function) and also don't forget to put some encryption so people aren't jacking your internet for free biggrin.gif .

Hell yeah. Thanks for the reply!
And another thing.. if the router is placed in the living room will I still be able to connect if I'm in my own room or in the toilet (with the doors and windows closed and all)? Or do I have to be in the living room near the router to be able to connect and get good connectivity?
Once I'm able to connect I also might need to set some speed limits to some of my jack ass buddies who likes to download at full speed.

Thanks again for the reply. You're a great help.

EDIT: Can I use a telephone if I want to? I just need a splitter right?
