Bought Streamyx-in-a-box thinking that it is easy to install. Took up the 1MB package at RM88 (free modem) and need to add RM2 for 1 year adsl modem warranty (total RM90 per month)

Just got activated yesterday. Some problems are fixed. Now for some others cry.gif

As usual a newbie like me (streamyx newbie), we just follow the guide. So, I connect using the tmnet streamyx shortcut. At the Modem Status (DSL600E), it displays Us Rate and Ds Rate at 256kps. Ok, this sucks. Then I tried to set the modem to auto login. Now checked, Us Rate at 256kps and Ds Rate at 512kps. Ok, I shall call them on Monday to have this fixed! It should bbe 1024kps right?

Anyway, here is my modem status. Appreciated info to assist me enchance my broadband enjoyment notworthy.gif
Link Status Connected
Us Rate (Kbps) 256
Ds Rate (Kbps) 512
US Margin 31
DS Margin 29
Modulation MMODE
LOS Errors 0
DS Line Attenuation 39
US Line Attenuation 48
Path Mode Fast Path

My ping to the modem is "time=1ms". Is this normal?

Some other info
Win98SE
Updated NDIS.VXD (as suggested by tmnet)
Aztech DSL600E

Called 9515 about the mis-capped. Here are the list of things I need to do (must do according to their procedure)
1. Off modem and computer
2. On back everything after 5-10 minutes
3. Run speedometer and call them back to give both download and upload results
4. Then they file a report
5. They said, within 24 hours check again (heh, hope so)
6. If still happen, asked me not to call technical department and call activation department because it is still under 14 days warranty (whatever that means).

Lets see how tomorrow goes. thumbup.gif

Hahha.... as usual, things not get done again. Mine still mis-capped at 512k. Called them, activation department, and they say to call technical department. Yesterday, technical department ask me to call activation department because its still under 14 days warranty. Aiyo... they just love to pass the buck!

Yesterday, tech department say they will make a report to activation department. Now activation department say no such report received. Another Aiyo.... So, now activation say will make a report and it would be fixed in 3 days. That is Wednesday!

I was downloading today, 110MB took me 2 hours. Aiyo.....

Wednesday already, still not solved.
Called them, they ask me to do a flushdns via "ipconfig /flushdns". Not really related right? Anyway, I'm on Win98, and this option is not available.

Call them again and ask what happen to my previous report. They say according to the technician's report, he has went to the exchange and checked my port. It has already upgraded to 1 MB package. Heh, don't whether true or not. I'm still getting download of 512mb on modem status (even after rebooting modem) and speedometer of 428.32 kbits per sec.

Now they say, "I will file another report for you. In 24-48 hours working days, if not solved, called again. The technician will go to the exchange and check again. If still the same, the technician would pay a visit at your place. He will call first. In your speedometer you should be getting around 700 kbits per sec".

Aiyo, like that 24-48 hours working days, this week raya holidays, have to wait till next monday. 700 kbits per sec, hey, that is not 1 MB. Sigh

Updates:
Last night they callled me and say to check whether has my miscapped been fixed. Then I test, nope, still the same. Then I reboot the modem and then modem hang. Then I reboot again, gone case. I think the modem went kaput because my computer cannot get the DHCP IP from the modem. Tried ipconfig /release and it give me address 169.x.x.x

OK, after some calls here and there, the tmnet technician came. They used their notebook and check - yeap, their notebook can't get IP from modem. Then they used their ZTE modem. Able to get to IP and then access internet. Then fixed the ZTE modem to my PC. OK, everything looks OK. Speed is also OK. From ZTE model status, it shows 1024/384.

So, now they replaced my 10 days old AZTECH DSL600E modem with their ZTE 831 modem. Here is the best part. According to them, eventhough they still provide me with a one year warranty (minus 10 days), the ZTE modem is actually a buffer unit - a unit that has been repaired by tmnet. They cannot give me a new unit eventhough it is only 10 days old. Now that sucks.

Anyway, they also said that alot of aztech modems provided by tmnet sucks. This ZTE model is better and stable. Hopefully all goes well.
