SA is a very versatile weapon. Lots of people find it hard to pick up. Below are solely from my own experience with SA on Tri.
Axe Mode: High and long Reach, High Damage. Slow Attack. Good for knocking mobs over. Also very mobile as you can move quickly. Useful if you need to chop off high tail or chase after mob. Phial is recharged in this mode. Sword Mode: ESP. Does not bounce. Very fast attack compared to Axe mode. You will however be rendered immobile. Movement speed is comparable to GS. Very good for breaking parts, e.g., Horns, Wings. Unsheathe attack is faster than Axe Unsheathe. Phial is drained in this mode. I usually do not sheathe the SA after drawing if possible. I will move mainly in axe mode and do major damage with sword mode. You will need to learn to combo from sword to axe to sword and vice versa to get the best out of SA. All vertical attacks of SA does major damage. For other phials, e.g. Status phials, it is actually pretty useful if you can get in a full burst (what you guys call boom boom here). The burst attack can pump in a lot of Status Dmg to the mob in a short time if successful. Hope this is of help. This post has been edited by kiukiu: Jan 5 2011, 09:19 AM |

QUOTE(wolfx @ Jan 5 2011, 09:39 AM) Is there any difference in hitting in 1 phial and 2 phial for sword mode? Because the "Reload" indicator shows after 1 phial is depleted though you still can maintain sword mode with 1 phial. You only have 1 Phial in all SA. When you see the Reload indicator, it's because it's at HALF phial. Reason being, you can only Draw/Switch to Sword mode when you have more than half phial. IF you're already in Sword mode and your phial decrease to less than half, it will still maintain the sword mode until the whole phial is drained, at which time, you will automatically switch back to Axe Mode (animation and all) so be careful and always pay attention to your phial level. You have that grace period to switch back to Axe Mode to charge up slowly or Reload immediately.Explanation on Phial and Attribute. 1. Attribute: This can be Elemental or Status or None. 2. Phial: Phials are the one that provide attribute in Sword Mode and will only take effect in Sword Mode. Example 1. You have a Flame Tempest SA. This comes with a Fire Attribute (Elemental). It also comes with a Fire/Elemental Phial (Not too sure on this as I'm just referring to the website for info). Thus, when in Axe mode and Sword mode you get Fire Elemental, with a boost (unconfirmed) when in sword mode. Example 2. You have an Assault Axe SA. This does not come with any attribute. It comes only with a Para Phial. You will only do Para Status Dmg in Sword Mode. Axe mode is purely Raw Dmg. |

QUOTE(Scar_face @ Jan 5 2011, 10:17 AM) u also can combine combo between 2 form..for example 1st axe 1-2 hit switch 1-2 hit swith..try already u can make infinate combo like this..of course if u not getting hit while perform the combo.. It's a good combi. It's the recommended way to use SA actually. I used it a lot on slower monsters. Faster one you may not be able to chain it and will have to switch back to axe manually.Added on January 5, 2011, 10:33 am QUOTE(gundamalpha @ Jan 5 2011, 10:09 AM) Me not master. Me Generalist Specialist Added on January 5, 2011, 10:34 am QUOTE(wolfx @ Jan 5 2011, 10:22 AM) Thx for info, kiukiu. Wolfx. You can switch form mid combo. In axe mode you can switch to sword on forward lunge. In sword mode you can switch back to axe on side L>R slash.Scar_face: how you combo between axe and sword cuz the switching from axe to sword is slow for me. I rather just from sheathed, unsheath in sword mode and whack then charge the phial in axe mode , rinse and repeat...that's what I normally do la. I still noob in SA. Btw any hunters in subang wanna adhoc hunt tonight? This post has been edited by kiukiu: Jan 5 2011, 10:34 AM |
