actually alot of info can be gotten from minegarde forums and mhf3 website.

heres some interesting stuff:

- if u see the sandfish monster raging and going on a jump out of sand biting spree, u can put bomb. he will eat the bomb then it will explode in the stomach

- if u see the red ball monster rolling or jumping to u, if youre using a gs u can randomly swing ur sword. hitting him will cause him to fall and lay on the ground for quite long so u can use tat opportunity to sheathe your sword and do level 3 charges on his back to break it

- power talon and defense talon can be made by combining power charm and defense charm with deviljho claws or fangs or something. then re buy power charm and defense charm and have all 4 of these items in your inventory for defense and attack boost

- low rank farming is useless. instead of spending a day trying to get one rare item, go ahead and spend that they ranking up. seriously. i played solo all the way and finished every single village quest except the final hidden quest and i ranked up all by myself up to the point i unlocked the final boss (wind dragon that you can see in the game intro which destroyed the balloon). once at high rank, then its worth farming for rare parts as the armor is better and much more worth it. seriously, low rank armor isnt worth the trouble and wont be used so much. heck i ranked up to high rank using an uncomplete low rank diablos armor, which only had 1 skill which was critical draw. even then i needed to gem the armor to get the skill. once you reach high rank (2nd guild girl quests), then only u should start worrying about rare parts.

- the lava monster has lava pieces on its body which can be broken off. if not broken they can turn black and cause weapons to bounce. wyvern fire can make the armor "refreshed" so that it becomes hot enough to cut through. the lava monster's subspecies uses ice instead of lava. which is the opposite of the lava's lava armor. the lava armor turns black after some time has passed and will cause weapons to bounce. the ice armor is the opposite and will cause weapons to bounce until time has passed and the armor starts to melt away. wyvern fire really is the key to fighting this beast and it's subspecies.

- the key to fighting deviljho is to bring meat. poison, sleep, and paralyze meat. deviljho always keeps getting hungry (drools), put the all the different meat on the floor and let him eat it. it's tolerance will increase tho. this would mean if he ate slept meat the first time, he will fall asleep directly, the 2nd time he may need to eat 2-3 sleep meat, 3rd time need 3-4 sleep meat. his head can be "broken" twice. once will break his chin, another will make a scar on his face.

- tip for gs users, if you have +5 artisan (for sharpness+1 skill) necklace, make a high rank diablos armor set. replace the head piece with a lowrank jhen mohran head piece. jewel the armor and you can have sharpness+1, quick sheathe and unsheathe critical skills. the defense may be lower due to the low rank headpiece but gs users arent meant to be hit in the first place. if you manage to kill deviljho, replace the headpiece with deviljho's headpiece. if you manage to kill gold rathian+silver rathalos+high rank jen mohran you can make the headpiece and gauntlet for damascus armorset. regemmed properly you can get a total of sharpness +1, artisan, quick sheathe, unsheathe critical and quick sharpening

anyone wanna do a gathering ? lol

Added on December 18, 2010, 10:07 pmoh, and to unlock akantor and ukanlos, one requires u to finish all solo monster hunting quests for 6-8 stars while another requires u to finish all "more than 1" monster hunting quests for 6-8 stars.

not necessary to use gl
i finished all my quests (the one that i did) using gs. only thing to point out is some monsters are easier when using different weapons. only i m lazy to create a bunch of different weapons due to the rare parts required for high end weapons

yeap tats the last guild boss.

yeap but only secondary color. for example diablos armor is mostly white/yellowish grey but u can change the secondary color based on the preset colors.

beatle/insect armor (kamen rider armor)'s colour secondary color is actually its main color so its the most noticeable color change

mh3 is super easy if you're a mhu veteran.

instead of throwing boomerang, get ur cats to do the cutting (which is random). if you insist on using boomerang, to know whether the tail is cuttable or not make sure you whack the tail until the monster flinch 2 times. then only attempt to cut the tail.

example.... whack tail whack whack whack... monster flinches coz tail damn pain.... then whack tail somemore, whack whack whack then it flinch again coz u damn evil keep whacking his tail. then only use boomerang.

don't be scared of the monsters, theyre actually easy compared to mhu monsters. none of the monsters are as scary as rajang imo.

except of course gold n silver raths. with white sharpness gs, any attacks to their heads will bounce. silver rathalos's tail flip will stun you AND poison you. so even if you manage to get out of the stun, you need to drink a potion/antidote ASAP. To make matters worse his fireballs do burning damage that reduce ur life faster than poison (roll 3-4 times to extinguish the flames) so if you're unlucky enough to get fireballed first and get tailwhipped right after, high chance you're as good as dead (especially since it's possible for rathalos to attack u while you're still stunned)

focus

aka fast charge

useless for switch axe

u should get element up/status effect up depending on ur weapon. switch axes are very good for elemental attacks especially in swordmode

if i m not wrong it does not do poison damage, this is based on the demo coz i played demo it just does poison status damage (0 damage) so if the monster is immune to poison basically you're fked. coz i managed to poison the monster 2-3 time (royal ludroth as well as ice barroth)

therefore if u really want to use switch axe, go ahead and use axe mode. the infinite triangle combo does the most damage. overhead swing / underswing does around 50% damage which is the most damaging attack for axe mode.

btw i already killed the last boss. not too difficult actually and once in a rare while my cats manage to put it to sleep biggrin.gif

Added on December 21, 2010, 12:47 pmmake sure to bring megajuices for infinite stamina tho...

try n cut of the tail first....

face can be broken twice i think, front claws can be broken (1 left 1 right), chest can be broken

Added on December 21, 2010, 3:31 pmi just finished the last village quest.... brows.gif brows.gif brows.gif

kinda intense fighting narga and tigrex at the same time so i had to play safe and kill tigrex first. once he died the battle was soooooooooooooooooooooooo easy

btw the special reward for the last village quest is allow you to use rainbow colour (the secondary colour will change to every colour as time passes same like mhf2's last village quest)

special reward for killing amatsu (guild last boss) is you get to customize your own colour (in mhu/mh2g this could be done from the start of the game with any s/u armor)

woohoo!

retire time!

in mhp3 i would say its more or less balanced

artisan (for white sharpness) > severe/weakening blow > reckless abandon +3 > attack up large

severe/weakening blow is if u hit monster's weakpart (got more than 1 part), you will get 50% bonus affinity for that hit (info from other forums)
but it depends on situation, sometimes reckless abandon is better. you can only get this from rathalos armor

elements are much better in mh3 due to the fact there are armor sets that can give fire attack up/ice attack up/water attack up etc. these can be upgraded to +2 versions. so the element damage can be pushed higher. i m not sure if it stacks with element attack up but i m guessing it s possible.

since i'm a gs user it doesnt matter much to me as i go raw all the way.

for a switch axe, the player should keep in mind that there are vials that can be used and some switch axes are limited to certain vials. so if a switch axe doesnt have the ability to use power/slash vials you can slot in the skill into your armour (slash vial ADD i think) or something like that. this is similar to gunner weapons which doesnt have certain bullet types.

some other helpful skills for sa would be evade distance up (since the walk speed is so damn slow)

or quick sheathe to keep your weapon from sword mode quickly so you can go back to running around

artisan > sharpness as white sharpness is helpful to cut through more things but for sa it's not 100% neccessary as sword mode has ESP

regardless i prefer using raw over elements because i m lazy to keep farming for rare ingredients. which is the main reason why most people would go raw, unless they have time and zeny to spare

Added on December 21, 2010, 4:47 pmif youre using para axe, elemental attack up doesnt benefit you at all

instead go for status attack up +2

and that is why i use gs...

lol
keep ur ds sheathed
the best time to attack the tail is immediately after they do the poison tailflip (they will still be flying but the tail is near the ground)

if u really want to break wing using ds, then u have to play flashbomb.
when they fly, flash them and they will fall. alternatively attack the legs while it is flying, with enough damage they will fall from the sky

if these 2 methods fail, go for traps (no choice at this point)

if all these fail i d suggest u use gs wink.gif

Added on December 22, 2010, 1:39 amdont forget whacking the legs while its standing can cause it to fall, which is a similar playstyle for some hammer users

haha..ok since i am a multi weapon user tongue.gif!!! maybe i get katana / gunlance..both of them got unique style
GS erm..my fren using it..i dont want 2 ppl smashing in and out..argh i hate my fren when he do a flip on me!
*
your friend is either playing wrong or purposely trying to annoy you

ls is a good weapon now but it makes you play super aggressively so that you can keep your damage buff

u can try gl if you're a multi weapon user. follow kaeza's instructions. gl can actually have better reach than a gs due to it's upswing

4 slot then i d recommend a low level skill, sword sharpener skill. need 5 slots tho so u need 1 slot from ur weapon.

actually if u only have 4 slots then u seriously need to go mining for necklaces.

but if you're lazy like me, just screw it and continue on the game. get to high rank as soon as possible

LOL no wonder

please get high rank armor + weapons before even trying that final quest

some "pro" hunter tried using village equipment, the best he could do was kill deviljho and have 2 minutes left (2 monsters to go)
