My application was rejected by Shell. But why?? I have the experience... sad.gif

Don't worry bro, here's my case:
I applied to Shell for three times in three years, and failed every single time.

First application, for intern position, told me that application was unsuccessful due to the reason I'm having internship in my final year studies, which is a no-no. Supposedly should apply a year before my internship begins. hmm.gif

Second application, for graduate / fresh entry position, application unsuccessful again, because there's no available job at that moment. cry.gif

Third application, I think its for fresh entry position as well, although that time I'm already working in Aus, so went through a phone interview but in the end, received an email "Your application is unsuccessful". sad.gif

I always thought third time's charm? Guess its not for me sweat.gif
Maybe another try this year? smile.gif

Erms... why don't you try another approach?

True true, probably give it a last try, or maybe just drop it all together.
As year pass by, with more working experience and knowledge, hope for the best.

Just I have a slight infatuation with Shell, maybe just for own personal preferences.

Been to Miri before, and felt like I want to settle down there for good tongue.gif

Besides, Shell is very attractive too, don't you agree?

Dont expect you are the only one applying for that position in shell.. there are thousand.. shell are seeking only the best, and if you think you have enough experience.. it doesnt mean that you are qualified.. requirement stated is MINIMUM..

it all about luck.. i would say.. there will go randomly as they receive number of applications.. do you think they go thru one by one? agent is the best way to go.. as they will help employee to shotlisted the candidate.. and they even can influence employee by putting your CV as the best among the rest..

Yeah, totally agree with that. So many applicants and definately Shell is looking for the best they can find.

I'm really glad to be given an opportunity even for phone interview, but in the end, I was not successful.

so you prefer working in miri rather than AUS ? y? if you'd care tell me the reasons? since both places is far away from your hometown judging from your previous comments.

If its three years ago, yes I am looking forward to working in Miri, when I first graduated.
Reasons given would be due to personal reasons and attractive job opportunities there.

But of course its hard to land a job as well.
Not forget to mention that I am not from any engineering background, only armed with a degree in Geology...
Thinking of joining some companies that require geologist, field geologist, or maybe geophysicist.

Personal preferences would be, Miri seems a lot like my hometown, small, cosy, friendly people and many more!
Similar to Ipoh~ biggrin.gif .

Made a choice and hence started my career in O&G in Aus.

well, i believe every ppl live up what they want, for me, given a choice between miri and AUS, i chose the latter haha. and i believe AUS OnG industry offer more promising future, if you wont mind, pull me some strings in AUS. haha.
*
That's correct bro. The options were obvious hence I've chosen Aus that time.
O&G in Aus is strong indeed, but personally I feel that mining industry in Aus is more attractive tongue.gif

I'm still quite new in the industry, hope to build up more network in the future. We shall keep in touch then biggrin.gif

would u mind to share for what company do u work rite now? i assume u r working as a geologist? damn, geology was one of the hardest subject for me but still it's one of the fundamental of petroleum engineering.
*
I'm a geophysicist, working in a seismic processing department.
We deal with a lot of processing work for the O&G industry. WesternGeco, PGS, CGGV and Fugro Jason fsi, offered similar services like the company I work with.

Though my tertiary education is Geology, but what I'm doing now, is more related to geology+physics.
Petroleum geology was one of my majors and it was indeed interesting. Not forget to mention other subjects like stratigraphy, structural geology, and sedimentology.
It should be fun for you bro =)

yes. u should start applying for a job now. for highest qualification, u can put your previous semester's result or cgpa. petronas online application was quite okay for me. wait tillu see Shell online application. abit haywire biggrin.gif
*
Yeah, Shell online application is a bit too "detailed", asking lots of questions. I remembered I put 10, when the question is asking "How attractive Shell is to you as an employer?" biggrin.gif
