However I dont have any experience yet , so should i first apply for internship to get some experiences or I can apply straight for fresh grad job ?
Hope to hear from some of you guys thanks.

Try local O&G co. such as Kencana, Sapura, Petra, MMHE, and etc as they employ lots of fresh graduates but I warn you that basic pay might not be that good for fresh grad. The offshore allowance which boost your salary. After 1 - 2 years, eventually your basic pay will be doubled and you can demand higher salary!

Sadly to say for chemical engineers have not much offshore exposure for them because they are mostly office base supporting the offshore operation. Only if there is major problem at offshore then they will be mobilize.

If you able to get in to drilling or pipelaying then it will be a different story as the pay should be very high but this co. mostly require mechanical and civil engineers.

Why do you guys like to go to offshore? Other than getting some experience I mean? It's dangerous (the heli trip), has a lot of dangerous materials onboard etc etc. It's good to get a couple of years experience of going there, but I wouldn't want anymore than that.

Is it the allowances?

My brother works with one of the service providers and after 3 years, he's really tired of going offshore. Having to leave his kids a month at a time sometimes. He was in Sakhalin when the Japanese Earthquake and Tsunami hits .. it was terrifying.

Hey all,

I got 2 offers and having some confusion in comparing both. I am a fresh graduate.

1st: Safety Consultant Engineer
1) Local Small Company with salary RM2600

2nd: Project Engineer
1) MNC with salary RM2200-2300

Both are oil and gas related company. Is it the 1st job for fresh graduate is better in huge MNC?

Highly appreciate comment from all of you. Thanks in advance.

Hi , thanks for the reply , will look into some of the companies there. Just get to their website and apply online ? I dont mind a basic pay for fresh grad like me , as my academic results are not excellent and what i really want is to get tons of experience when I am able to get into my first oil and gas company.
By the way those companies you mention are not listed in the first post of this thread , I know there are many oil and gas companies out there and wont be able to list them all . Just wondering where/how to get all the oil and gas companies out there , and more specifically those companies that hire fresh grad ? Thanks

I know its quite dangerous but i feel like i wanted to go there whenever i check some videos on some offshore platforms , I dont know maybe its just the curiosity inside me that want to know how do those offshore platforms work ?
Anyway any advice for fresh grad in chem eng ? which company to start with ? I have done my bachelor degree in chem eng , and now doing my master in refinery design and operation and would really like to get into this field , however I am not those straight As students , and my academic results are not really good and without any experience as well , so i know its going to be difficult to get into this field , but i would still like to try .I dont mind a basic salary for the first few years as I want to gain as much experience as possible.

I think someone who got an interview with Petronas started digging up all the Petronas thread and basically asked the same question on all the threads. That's why it's been visible for the last 3 days I think.

I supposed this would be normal procedure. I would not say that you have been shortlisted so don't put your hopes too high. Polish your CV (not too long etc) and Good Luck.
