Hi Megadisc,

I'm same case like you. My Nokia 5800 dive into 1 of the hong kong restaurant toilet bowl and even i use 3 seconds to safe it out but at last it certified forever OFFLINE from the repair shop. I've just got this CSL Spice Mi300 phone during DEC KLCC PIKOM Digital Fair with Rm699. It comes together with attractive gift such as a PREMIUM Pack CSL Spice Mi300 Accessories which consist of Car Charger, Full Cover Case (like leather colour), Half Rubber/Plastic Case and 1 Matte Front Screen Protector (finger print less type). It also have some extra free bees such Car Phone Holder, 4GB ext SD Card, 1 SD card reader.

CSL also have offered default 12 months warranty + extended 6 more months if you registered online. It come prebuitled a (No Need Data Transmition) GPS Navigation software Map King (1 YEAR free).

Since it only have 4GB Kingston SD card then i do a full copy to my Nokia5800 (8GB SD card) amd it works perfectly on this phone.

Galaxy 5 will recommended for a user who not really aim for bigger screen since CSL Spice 3.2" and Galaxy 5 is only 2.8". But off course if you want nicer housing/casing it's should be Galaxy 5 which have a WHITE colour back casing and written "with GOOGLE" wording. For me i still preference CSL Spice which support capative MULTI TOUCH screen.

well, ipong even clearly printed its china origins on the back panel. from 2g to 4g
this spice mi300 is not your regular CSL....dont let the CSL ipong & crackberries epic fail deter you sweat.gif
i'd pick mi300 to experience android at a cheaper price with quality.
its a generic model from Foxconn (foxconn f911) for the mid-end market...
among the variants are

Orange Boston
Gigabyte Gsmart G1305
Motorola XT5
Apanda A60
Vibo A688
Chinavision Excalibur
Muchtel A1
Wellcom A88
Commtiva Z71
Cincinnati Bell Blaze
Nexian Journey

developments of custom roms for this device is very rapid. we enjoy 2.2 Froyo stable now..and 2.3 is coming.even my friends on brand name devices still struggling on stable roms..

definitely not you regular csl
i dont really care about the brand..just the quality of the phone

but hey...if money is not a factor you can always get a better, brand name device.. meh...

Hi,

I'm totally agree to your point. By the way, I'm still using original rom due to no confidence on custom 2.2 rom yet. You mention have 2.2 froyo stable, can give the step and version how to

1) backup current firmware rom
2) root
3) install stable froyo 2.2 rom
4) if something happen how to restore the backup firmware rom

Hope you can give and provide some details instruction. My PC is win XP

Hi All,

Need help, suddenly my WIFI problem. It's always not able to scan network and WIFI auto turn OFF after few seconds.

Using Original ROM 2.1. Any solution?

Hi All,

Just something to share. At 1st i though is due to hardware error but suddenly i got some clue from google searching (other brand phone issue). I've use similar concept + my app "Andriod System Info". I'm able to view what's the actual problem via the Andriod LOG section.

Here is some log finding

ERROR

unable to open connection to supplicant on "/misc2/wifi/wpa_supplicant/wlan0"

Then i tried my luck to rename the original file at "/misc2/wifi" from orginal file name "wpa_supplicant.conf" to "wpa_supplicant.conf.bak".

Then I TURN ON again for WIFI.

A new "wpa_supplicant.conf" generated and now able to scan wireless network via my WIFI. thumbup.gif

Conclusion: Andriod Phone is a Developer Phone.

im on superbler 4.2.

my advise dont go on CM7 nightly builds if ur phone is too crucial in ur daily life..yeah but 2.3 makes u sound cool tho

pick roms that are stable and good for daily use. in this case simply pick any decent 2.2

and CM7 batt drains slightly faster than superbler 4.2

if you want to prolong the standby time read here Save-Battery-Power-on-an-Android

Hi,

Totally agree on your suggestion on getting a stable OS rather than fancy one.

Do you have any screen shot how it's looks like for superbler 4.2 UI ?

Did superbler 4.2 support the ADW Launcher ?

May i know which backup tools or apps you use for backup all the contacts, messages and apps?
