QUOTE(wan_109 @ Jan 5 2011, 12:40 AM) I have 2.1 (Eclair) pre-installed. running FroYo on this sub-700 phone now 1. Go to the market and download ROM Manager. 2. Install UniversalAndroot-1.6.2-beta5.apk to root your phone 3. Get the "RomManager" app from market 4. In "RomManager" select "Flash ClockworkMod Recovery" 5. Select "Commtiva Z71" phone (compatible with Boston and clones) 6. Select "Backup Current ROM" 7. Download SuperBler v4 and Google Apps 8. reboot your phone in recovery mode (camera+low volume+power) and with the wipe option clean all phone data 9. - use "install from zip...." option from recovery to update the rom, gapps and camera. 10. - Reboot and enjoy!! Make sure you backup all your apps and contacts and stuffs before doing this. just to add to this instruction... 1. i rooted with modaco visionary http://android.modaco.com/content/software...one-click-root/ 2. i made a backup from terminal emulator b4 proceeding, esp the recovery image "# cat /dev/mtd/mtd3 > /sdcard/mtd3.img" - I think Rom manager doesnt backup the recovery image! 3. then i proceed as above but b4 flashing, i made a backup in Rom manager 1st, then copy everything to PC, md5sum everything making sure not a single bit is wrong 4. then i recheck the md5sum of the SuperBler in my sdcard root is correct http://www.movilzona.es/foro/superbler-par...ston-t3685.html 5. finally flashed to SuperBler4!!! oh, i dont have to use any gapps.zip or camera hack; just 1 superbler zip and i've got gmail youtube map etc now, any 2.3 rom that work with Mi300? |

restore to stock CSL 2.1, then flash CM7#12, working well!!! sub700 gingerbread!!!
compare to stock, CM7/gingerbread got 1. app2SD 2. newer google apps (i think new youtube etc need >2.2) 3. chrome2phone 4. ... and eye candy 1. TV off effect 2. butter smooth scrolling - near iPhone smooth! 3. end of scroll glow 4. ... (you guys add in - to tempt our our friends who still worried to flash now... can we flash directly CM7 to newer build? shouldn't be any problem right? rom manager premium can even download directly new ROM |

i rooted my stock CSL 2.1, then made a backup - so don't have to keep re-rooting (i only ever did once with visionary)
i also just flashed cm7 #12 to #13 directly, without even clearing the data & cache : and i've got my programs + data intact and working problem in #12 & #13 - power widgets are erratic; and i cannot switch off mobile data using Tasker - any idea how to overcome? |

QUOTE(zyulander @ Feb 1 2011, 07:53 AM) aha...agreed...thats how i do it. jz dnt 4get to move the backup to the pc if you want to format or partition i've flashed cm7 nightly version to version without going back to stock rom - no problem so far. i've even flashed without clearing data & cache sometimes and it retain all my programs and settingsand for those who's experiencing difficulties flashing clockwork recovery, jz put the 'recovery.img' manually. put it here : root of sdcard\clockworkmod\download\koush.tandtgaming.com\recoveries create the folders if its not there yet. after that run rommanager and tap on flash 'clockworkmod recovery'. in a jiffy it'll finish flashing the recovery well, this works for me all the time.. yup, basic of backup - keep a copy off site, ie copy it to your PC, dropbox or email another copy to yourself (your SD card is will be toast when it's most needed = that's life). md5sum your backup copy to confirm the file is not corrupted also md5sum any image b4 u flash |

workaround for google voice search not working in CM7:
use explorer with root to delete voicesearch apk in /system/app, then reinstall from market i guess we can also not flash gapps when installing nightly rom, just install everything from market flash directly again to newest CM7 without going back to stock, didn't wipe data/cache - save me from reinstall every program. works well s |
