(mean : there's is no turning back for ur warranty )
I found this MI-300-Eclair-Software-Updater-Tool.zip from the SPICE website... Is it not the same as the CSL using??
This tool update the Eclair v2.1 to the SPICE. I havent tried it yet since I didnt root my phone.

http://albert-david.blogspot.com/2010/10/r...ice-mi-300.html

as i found out that.. Backup method..

* cat /dev/mtd/mtd0 > /sdcard/bkup.mdt0.boot
* cat /dev/mtd/mtd1 > /sdcard/bkup.mdt1.misc
* cat /dev/mtd/mtd2 > /sdcard/bkup.mdt2.splash
* cat /dev/mtd/mtd3 > /sdcard/bkup.mdt3.recovery
* cat /dev/mtd/mtd4 > /sdcard/bkup.mdt4.ftm
* cat /dev/mtd/mtd5 > /sdcard/bkup.mdt5.hidden
* cat /dev/mtd/mtd6 > /sdcard/bkup.mdt6.dgbmask
* cat /dev/mtd/mtd7 > /sdcard/bkup.mdt7.system
* cat /dev/mtd/mtd8 > /sdcard/bkup.mdt8.misc2
* cat /dev/mtd/mtd9 > /sdcard/bkup.mdt9.cache
* cat /dev/mtd/mtd10 > /sdcard/bkup.mdt10.userdata

isnt the "* cat /dev/mtd/mtd2 > /sdcard/bkup.mdt2.splash" is the boot screen? Im not sure.. just want to ask here..

here said can revert back hence get back the warranty woh:

http://wahedkhan.wordpress.com/2011/02/14/...lable-to-flash/

is this true ah? hmm.gif
*
do you read the comment at that forum?? im the one who asking in the forum. the guy said that it will backup everything.. of course, i read all the resource in the internet.

but, the important for our spice is the boot logo. CSL one. if we can revert back to official rom without the CSL boot logo, we also void the warranty. that why im waithing for the guy comment my post there.. if really can backup boot logo as well. i will root my spice.. smile.gif

Do not flame me. It is just my opinion. If you are worry about warranty DO NOT root and flash any rom
I agree with you.. For what u bought this kind of phone without tweaking to the maximum limit right.. smile.gif

I used to be Symbian lover before. until now.. but, i want to play with android also..

Now i get confuse.. I know rooting the phone is easy. But, choosing the right custom firmware are difficult..

As I google many, i found there several custom like

1. firetrap twonight
2. cyanogenmod nightbuild
3. firetrap jellybean
4. froyo phantom king sky fish
5. bakpia cokelat
6. superbler
7. cmeclair

these i found compatible with the spice mi-300 (correct me if im wrong).. I know there diffrerent between power usage, keyboard, interface.
can i have some info through this? i read the previous post but, what i get only the benchmark about some of the custom above..
which one suit or better recommendation.

I am now answering specifically this question. I have posted earlier, if one has NEVER yet flash any rom - use ROM MANAGER to do a backup of your original rom.
You can always go back to this backup - it restore 101% if 100 % is not good enough, meaning you will get to see the original CSL splash screens

I have only been on the i300 for 3 days only. In these 3 days I have tested 3 roms. And I discovered one thing

Once you flash a cook rom ontop of stock, even after you reflash back stock you will see splash screen of the previous rom ( just a brief 1-2 seconds ) before the CSL splash screen. The best way to remove this previous rom splash screen is to clear cache partition, clear dalvikm cache, clear data and factory reset before you flash back stock. When the stock rom is successfully booted. go back to recovery and clear all cache partition, dalvik cache again

sorry bro.. smile.gif releks a bit. i want to ask.. instead of using the z4root which need online to root my spice. can i use the "super oneclick v1.7"to root my device. then install the "ROM Manager" and do the backup of original ROM??

Thanks for the useful reply..

A important factor for me in selecting my rom is how the rom installs apps onto the ext SD card . This is important cos of limited memory in the mi300. The present rom Phantom KIng v1 which I am now using installs apps onto the hidden EXT4 partition which is very much better than other roms that install on the open FAT32 partition. Installing apps directly onto ext4 also means releasing a lot of extra space on internal-storage memory. For the same no of apps, I save back close to 70 MB
*
i has one battery only which the battery life time is crucial for me. Thanks for the explanation. From the statement above. I want to ask you more about this. hopefully u dont mind to answer me. smile.gif

i know that our mi300 only 150mb. then, if i install the phantom king. it will make a hidden partition on sd card? I have read about making partition on the sd card for storing the application. This useful when we want to mount the sd card to laptop. then only the fat/fat32 will be read by windows while the ext4 partition will not be read.

I gone through all the pages in this thread. I found out the most good ROM is Phantom King Sky Fish... But, there is one problem that havent been answer yet..

About the "Sleep Policy". From this forumer, he mention that if set the sleep policy to "Never", the WIFI still disconnected when the phone sleep. Is this true? Please assist me.

Thanks a lot.

Daily phone is the phone that you use everyday. Some people here has the Mi300 as their second phone, or you would call secondary phone.

Yes, flash back to csl stock rom using ROM Manager (make backup to some important files including contacts, messages, .etc) and use SutLR to flash the Phantom King nb0.

nb0 is the format of the ROM. Here's the step by step.

1- download phantom rom http://uploading.com/files/448m85bb/phantom.king.rev1.rar/
2. download & install SUT & launch it http://uploading.com/files/7942c5ef/SUTLR_v1.7.0.zip/
3 connect phone in download mode n flash it
3.1. press HANG UP button, VOLUME UP and POWER to enter Download mode.
3.2. and your phone is entering Download mode with something iterate with black background screen
3.3. Open up the SUT application and browse nb0 file that you need to install to your phone.
3.4. you can see "Next" button on SUT application, it means your phone is detecting.
3.5. just click next till the progress bar /flashing stuff appears and wait to it to finish.
3.6 voila..
here didnt mention about the "update option".. which one should i choose?

however, i just proceed to next... i choose "none" i hope it is right..

Now:
Successful Rooting+Installing custom firmware = Phantom King
but, only 3 homescreen... sad.gif

You need to install the ext partition first before installingĀ  any rom. Use rom manager to do it. You can select 256, 512MB or even 1GB space and swap size up to 128MB. As I have a 16 GB class 10 card - I choose 1GB and swap size 128 MB. You will remove ALL data with partitioning, so remember to make a copy of whatever data you have on the PC. You CANNOT view contents of the ext partition on the PC. You also cannot see this partition using the normal file explorer. You can view the utilisation of this partition using a free app callĀ  QUICK SYSTEM INFO on the phone

I already install my phantom king.. can i create the ext partition now?? i havent format yet my memory card..
Inside the phantom king, there no app2sd.. should i install it myself?

I try using ROM Manager, there no manual input for SD Partitioning. The max value is 512mb only.. Can i go to 1gig please?

thanks.

Want more homescreens - replace launcher with ADW Launcher - up to 5 homescreens, Zeam - up to 7 and Launcher Pro - cannot remember , I think is also at least 5 to 7

Yes, you can still partition card. Partition will erase everything on card - so backup on PC any important data. I suggest to do first so that one can immediately install apps on it after a rom flash. Actually when you use Phantom King -= just go to CONFIG an app in menu - there you can set your apps install settings. No need to use any 3rd party apps2sd
*
ok. thanks. so, i just need to partition 1st the sd..
1 more thing, i cant view my sd card using this phone oredi. i mean the interface no mount as usb in the pc application part.

Edit:

I just explore a bit. i can activate the USB from the phone.. thanks.. Problem solve

I go to CONFIG, i also confuse. what to use? App2sd, Dalvik2sd, or Data2sd.. can explain a bit. Thanks.

Probably is your card problem. Can your PC detect it using a card reader ? If so, reformat it and then do a partition of it. Shouldn't be the rom issue
*
bro, my fault.. smile.gif basicly using the offical, when we connect we has the intercafe right. but, this phantom king diff a bit. activate using the phone itself.. thanks for guiding..

I has 1 more question.. how to partition 1gig instead of 512mb?

Apps2SD will allow apps that could be installed on card directly to card. For some old apps that has yet to be upgraded by developer, you might need to " force install" such apps - just do this at Settings/Applications - select the app and select move to SD

Data2SD : some apps will have data downloaded eg newsfeed which many default install in phone memeory. This function will allow such data to be downloaded to card. Again this depends on whether such apps allow such. Usually very old apps do not allow. Some apps allow you to have data download on card - just check the settings or any options in the app. There are just too many of such variations as every app is unique

Dalvik2SD : Actually all dalvik cache highly recommend to be on phone to allow speedier access to apps. This cache is build up when you first install and initialize the app.  Select this only if you really want the extra space in phone memory

You must have a paid app to do this. If you are using the rom manager download elsewhere - it is cracked to release licence only NOT full features of the app. This app is dirt cheap - buy it if you need this feature
*
I already own the premium one.. but, maximun only can go to 512mb. Is it possible i create 1gig?
Just google that i can also using the GParted software.
http://www.miui-au.com/howtos/ext3/

If can i want to use ROM Manager which more less work. smile.gif

You can change the number of homescreens by pressing the left most button and then go to Preferences > Homescreen settings > Number of screens

You can even select it up to 7.  icon_idea.gif

Did you buy it ?? If so, you will have this feature.
If you have downloaded this Premium version from somewhere else - it is only licence release not full feature.

SD card partition can be done using any recovery program , not necessary using rom manager. I also use my Galaxy and previos Nexus recovery to partition cards. There are also many PC utilities you can use
*
i just download it.. so, it not a full feature... so sad.. meaning i can go up to 512mb by buying the application??
in currently using windows xp.. is it possible for me to create a ext partition? i mean using external software..

thanks.
