If i wanna apply for Ernst and Young, i need to submit my official academic transcript to them but the problem is i will only be getting it in November. So my question is, is it ok if i send them my unofficial transcript printed from the web?

Thanks guys for the replies. I guess I can start applying now. Just found out that I can just buy it now directly from the office for RM20.

Hey everyone, I've got a quick question to ask.

I recently resigned from the tax department in PwC in June 2013. If I would like to re-apply in a different department (Assurance), would it be a problem? i.e. not accepting ex-staff's application.

I heard that there is a cooling period of 6 months for rejected applications, but how about the cooling period for resigned staffs?

Thank you.  smile.gif

May I ask, how is the working environment in the tax department? Why did you quit tax?

Hey there,

I used to work in the Individual Tax department (not the Corporate Tax department). I resigned because I don't enjoy doing tax.

IMO, the working environment is great. We worked real hard during the peak period, but during our off-peak, we can go home at 6pm or so, depending if you have urgent work to attend to. Everyone there is very nice, very eager to teach and share knowledge.

Apart from the fact that tax is not my cup of tea, I actually enjoy working in PwC very much. smile.gif

Which tax department are you planning to apply into?
*
Im currently working in tax aswell for a year already but in a medium firm, doing both corporate and individual tax.

I cant say i enjoy working in the tax line but work is work haha

Im interested in the corporate side of tax, as moving on to commercial next time would be more in demand.

I applied for a position in tax about a week ago in PWC, and the HR personnel replied me saying the tax team will give me a call if there's any vacancy, should i call them after a week or wait for 2 weeks?

Yes. Btw, if I'm not mistaken the big 4 firms have a 6 month cool off period after unsuccessful applications.
*
Would i be considered unsuccessful if theres no reply after 3 weeks to a month?

Hey guys, I am in my third year of Accounting and Finance and am really interested in Tax. Having looked through V1 and V2 of the big 4 thread, I noticed that it was said that careers after leaving the firm were limited. So, I was wondering, usually at what age do most Tax accountants move out into commercial? Do they have trouble moving out? As in taking years to secure a job, as I noticed that there are limited Tax jobs on Jobstreet. Even if there are, most of them are concentrated in KL. How hard is it to find Tax jobs in commercial in say Penang? Anybody from Penang Tax have seniors that managed to move out into FTZ MNCs? Thanks  smile.gif

Sighh thats the sad part about tax. I heard tax in commercial is very relax. Thats why most of them went back to the big4. IM in tax for a year ++ now thinking if i should change to audit.

Just wondering for those working in the tax department in the Big4, are you always being monitored when you are doing work in the office? As in, your manager will discreetly stand behind you and check what u r doing?
