 is there a digital compass sensor in ipad?

Downloaded Compass for iPad (Free).
And the result in iPad 3G is almost the same with Compass in iPhone...

iPad 3G does have the digital compass (or called magnetometer) because it is part of the cellular function like iPhone.

You can check your facing direction by using the Maps app, open it. Tap on the direction icon on the top of the app. You will see your direction reflected.

Tested the compass app works on my 3G version

 

Change to:
