Today whent to an Apple store to try out the iPad. OK, after trying out this for a few minutes, I started to feel this device is quite useless if compare to our laptop. This is only a bigger iPhone with the same OS and almost the same hardware and performance, just it is using bigger capacity battery for longer period of net surfing and video. This device is no way to support the full version of Apple software, just only can use the mobile version, this already enough to call this device sucks. When try to surf net using the stupid Safari, come on, too slow if compare to our laptop or even net book, especially the webpage is full of flash. Come on, this OS is for mobile phone, not this kind of device, the so call net book killer. And I don't know why a lot of people like to use it and give very hugh review, is Apple pay them to do so, haizzz!

well, i can tell u that, cause we are apple fan , ya, its true that it cant support flash, but it really more portable, what's ur laptop weight? 2.3 kg? it really heavy and i pad is just around 1kg, its really a cool staff to show to friend, good looking, and good to touch, i think its touch screen is among the best....

My friend bought the iPad 3 months ago in Lowyat, that guy used it for about 1 week and we got the feedback from him, SUCKs. He is the real owner of 32gb 3g iPad. Now he has kept it inside his room drawer and maybe will take it out to use it once in a while. You see, that guy need to bring along the his laptop at the same time with the iPad, he said iPad is for showing off and surf net only, and I asked that fellow then his laptop also can surf net as well and at the same time can perform a lot of stuffs that the iPad unable to do, why he still need to bring along the iPad to add extra weight to him bag? Now he no longer bring the iPad anymore. See, that fellow wasted RM2500++ for this gadget and now R.I.P in the drawer!

I have a 64GB 3G iPad. No regrets queuing up to get one. I take it everywhere, it so convenient to check your emails & do some reading even in the toilet or in bed at nite . Infract I have stopped buying printed magazines such as Dwell, GG & Habitus & purchased online at iTunes store. Just love it.

Just give my 2 sen here. Ipad is a good product for those don have a netbook or notebook or a smart phone.
And its very good for showing off as well at this time, but slowly everyone will have this and, nothing to show off. Do you think iphone is something cool, many still don like it.
To really compare this is like compare apple os vs android. In long term android will win, it the trend and history has proved it.
Is a tablet convenience to carry around, yup maybe but i already have a smart phone to surf when i really need it, it still a 1kg to carry and one more thing to worry on when travelling or shopping.

My opinion netbook is just too slow and laggy. Try play games u see on ipad on netbook

First its not available 2nd even its supported u will have the most laggiest experience u will ever have. Benefit it support USB

Then smartphone screen too small . So conclusion depends on your needs i dislike apple but u have to give them the credit the graphics is just amazing u can open close open close apps or games and it wont lag for the ipad

I was thinking of ipad b4 my long flight to my Holiday destination earlier but after testing and asking few question decided not. Reason:

1) No SD card slot & even USB port - Very important for me for fast trf of photos from my digicam or using USB card reader. I hate BT bcos it's slow esp trf >10 or 100 photos

2) Words & Excel not supported although that guy told me can DL some sync software 

3) I don't play games..So it's abit useless to me

But I do like the size, portability & quick startup compare to netbook. Too bad the above tured me down 

We are obviously talking about the consumer electronics industry from the end user point of view, regarding Mobile Phones and PDAs (it's what this sub-forum is called, what a surprise ).

If you want to nitpick and say that tablets have other applications in other industries for other purposes, of course. But why the hell would you want to drag this discussion off topic?

And besides, like Nukke mentioned, we are not trying to say that ipads (or tablets, relating to the consumer mobile phone and PDA industry) is useless. I'm just saying, there really aren't any compelling reasons to go out and get ipads, aside from the novelty factor.

This reminds me of iPhone3 where people pointed out that it has no front camera and Apple fanboys said they don't need it.  Then Steve presented iPhone4 with front camera and all the fans cheered.  So you can expect the same now, fans will say they don't need front camera for the iPad, but when iPad2 is released with front camera, the fans will lovingly point out the feature as though it's something new.

They should at least include SD card slot, imagine if after captured pics using DSLR...can quickly view it using IPad.

There's nothing wrong with his statement. In fact, it's perfectly true.

But it's so obvious we are here in this Sub-Forum called "Mobile Phones and PDAs", posting in a thread called "iPad", the discussion here is obviously in the context of consumer electronics, specifically tablets, targeted at end users.

Why would someone want to talk about the applications of tablets in other industries?

Ipad is useful if you works as a CSI team, wanna go around and show your boss your findings and test result before move to next suspects and potential crime scenes.      aka CSI new york haha

i use it everyday till need to charge everyday. true but ask yourself how often do u use the usb? for me i hardly use except transfer files to others. its more about mobility and light weight. notebook is laggy at the lower range model. ipad most common usage there no lag. so it depends

I never said its better. is u said is better it said for a mobile device looks what its already capable off. I only said notebook have its own pros and cons and so is this ipad thats all. It can never replace a notebook but it brings mobility experience to the next level. PSP cant be compare because it doesnt have touchscreen. PS3 its not mobility.

I not an ifag but i am just making a point. Can your X100 run starcraft 2 and win no lag? especially the final boss? So PC games maker design their game to only support quad core computers? to experience no lag.

My point let me rephase on a device so small and thin look at the graphics tats all. Then the next question when can netbook play games like starcraft 2? When are they gonna optimize for you?

I am from the computer era everytime a better game comes out i need spend money on my computer to upgrade ram la processor la graphic card la this la that la. Now i dont have to worry that so much. The reseller value also quite good for the ipad.

True nobody knows what coming in the future but for now is 

I dont workship steve jobs but after intensively play with it i learn so much. I also master symbian and Maemo so its kinda impressive looking at the ipad even so many ppl condemn it. It does get certain jobs done and its never design to replace anything but just ease your daily life. I work very stress i play some games.
