QUOTE(Fornx @ Dec 6 2010, 06:17 PM) I'm not noticing any issues, unless of course things are getting corrupted on my phone without my knowledge.. So far, having those ext2 loops has improved my phone's general speediness ever so slightly. I use Linux at home (specifically Ubuntu and Mint) but I am not familiar with what these ext2 loops actually do. I think the feature is similar to the ext2 lagfix scheme in RyanZA's OCLF - I remember he had explained the loop thing very clearly in one of his old posts (before supercurio's voodoo kernel appeared, during the same time that mimocan had his ext2 lagfix released). Found the info below on another site - http://androidforums.com/samsung-galaxy-s/...20-11-10-a.html QUOTE There are several fixes as of now (most of them require your phone to be rooted): - Mimocan's lagfix (Android 2.1): Significant improvements in performance which can also be benchmarked. Requires an external SDcard formatted partly in fat and partly ext3 or ext4. Instructions for Android 2.2 can be found here. - OneClick Lagfix by RyanZA (Android 2.1 and 2.2): Based on mimocan but using the internal SD card. It creates a virtual ext2 filesystem on the original data partition and loop mounts it. Results are better than with basic mimocan and it is a lot easier to install. This fix is applied through an application. This post has been edited by kmrdeva: Dec 6 2010, 06:44 PM |

Going back to ext2-all lagfix scheme on speedmod K10H. I noticed slightly higher battery drain on ext4nj-all with 3 x ext2 loops. Thank heavens for nandroid backup/restore..

QUOTE(lch78 @ Dec 7 2010, 12:32 AM) Other than differently rated talk and standby times (and slightly different dimensions and weight), it seems the Nexus S has BT 2.1 as opposed to our SGS' BT 3.0. Hmm, I wonder if the Nexus S = Galaxy I9200?Why do I ask? Well, the first I9200 firmware on samfirmware is listed as Android 2.3 - anyone dare to try on their SGS? http://www.samfirmware.com/WEBPROTECT-i9200.htm This post has been edited by kmrdeva: Dec 7 2010, 12:39 AM |

QUOTE(freakfingers12 @ Dec 7 2010, 12:52 AM) Omg! Samsung did it again! made us wait and anticipate that a dual core processor is coming to Nexus S and then this? Worst battery life, slightly heavier, BT 2.1, no FM radio? What is this? iPhone 3G? Maybe Google's quoted numbers for the Nexus S are the realistic ones while Samsung's claimed figures for the SGS are really hogswallop.. Nope, the I9200 rom won't work on our SGS. Going to brick the phone that's it. Ha ha, downloaded the I9200XXJP2.rar file to check it out.. Definitely not gonna work with our SGS - only 2 weirdly named files inside - modem.img and ubi.img. |

QUOTE(dualpack @ Dec 7 2010, 05:42 PM) Tried this before, it's much more faster and smoother. However, it seems to be a juice sucker I noticed that too about K-9. Currently accessing my company/work email (hosted pop3/smtp) via gmail because gmail is truely 'push' on the phone. In summary, I have a gmail account checking/pulling mail from my company account and that gmail account is sync'ed on my phone in addition to my personal gmail account. Thanks anyway. |

Yay, my friend has just moved to SGS after getting sick of her BB Torch in just 3 weeks. Boring platform, she said it was, and this coming from a longtime BB user..

Guys, I read that XXJPU has an issue with internal SD mounting. Seems that the firmware shows 3 drives mounted, the external SD, an inaccessible drive, plus the internal SD in read-only mode (as a CDROM). Anyone care to comment on this?
