"Fair Usage means that all our paying customers means they should be treated fairly. Heavy users tend to hog the network at the expense of the non-heavy users. The challenge is how we can implement this best we can and so that it is truly fair for the customer."
Define fair usage. Do you give rebates for light users? ie. subscribers who generally use their broadband for emails, Facebook, MSN, etc? When subscribers use less of your bandwidth, you kept quiet. When subscribers use more, you resort to capping. This certainly does not sound FAIR to me. Why advertise with big word "UNLIMITED" when you can't tolerate heavy users? When i buy an unlimited tickets to an amusement park, i expect to be able to take as many round of rides as i like. If the queue gets too long due to people like me, well either you limit the numbers of people entering the park or simply build more rides! If the queue gets too long just because the operator wanted to make more profits by selling more tickets, knowing that the park has overstretched its capacity, then the operator should be blamed for their unscrupulous way of doing business. not the customers. Similarly, When i pay 80 bucks for a buffet dinner, i expect to be allowed to eat to my heart's content. You have no rights to stop me from eating more just because i have eaten more than RM80 worth of food. That is the risk you have to take. |

High speed internet to check emails, MSN and FB, which also can be achieved with 512kbps. Online gaming, Video Streaming, Downloading which uses high bandwidth will be labelled as Bandwidth hogger and Unfair User.

All the talk about Fair Usage Policy is just an excuse for their unscrupulous business practice by minimizing cost and maximizing profits at the expense of quality.
Minimize cost (Cap existing users' international bandwidth, so no need to upgrade existing capacity) Maximize profit (Promote and register more high speed (high monthly fees) subscribers) |

TM is being so arrogant here because they monopolize the market. They know most of us here has got no other choice.

My suggestion : vote their political masters out come next General Election. They are the ones who have been protecting TM's monopoly.

QUOTE(ccmasia @ Dec 4 2010, 09:28 PM) Hi friends, first of all I am not in anyway affiliated with TMNet. I feel that most of the forumer's posting in this section is complaining about capping. Does anyone knows how TM cap users? Forgive me if I'm wrong but on one end some forumers wanted speeds for P2P while on the other end HTTP downloads. It seemes that it's a fact of life there can never be best of both worlds. Try an experiment. Connect 2 PC's with a router. One PC use P2P & the other IDM. Then you will understand. P2P opens tons of connection to the net causing excessive load to the net so the other PC's tends to slow down drastically. Our registered BB is sharing based not dedicated so if a few guys P2P & takes most of the bandwidth so what do you think the rest of the users will experience??? on the same node. All downloadings are dependent on both side. The uploaders & downloaders. Could it be the uploader server bandwidth exceeded? Try closing down all downloading of P2P's then reset your modem, make sure that only one PC is connected, Router WiFi disabled, shutdown your antivirus & firewalls then try and download a huge file from any US servers & see if you have speeds. If still there is no speed try rebooting with Safe Mode Lan enable mode. Lots of our pc's are slowed down due to spyware/adwares also a lot our WiFi is being used by intruders (meaning hacked). What? There is such thing as limited access? Even Dialup has unlimited access. I could log in /log out as many times as i fancy. Why didn't they advertise Dialup as "UNLIMITED" too?Nevertheless, Unlimited in TM Contract means unlimited access not unlimited downloading & TM attempts to grant all users at least 70% of subscribed bandwidth from user to TM end only. Refer to any ISP contracts, then you probably won't complain. This post has been edited by relaxjack: Dec 4 2010, 10:17 PM |
