it depends....what kindof music are you into ?
for starter, acoustic is always the best, it has a fine n clean sound for like every genre...

when u are really hook to playing guitars, then u might plan to buy an extra eletric guitar for the sound..

but usually, even for professionals, they practice with acoustics, some even with kapuks

but really, since u know how to play violin, you can get into any instrument in no time, violin > all other instrument (maybe beisde piano)

if u have the budget like 400-500, check out takemini d51, it's an acoustic guitar with clean sound, good for beginner.
but all in all, listen to the sound 1st, it might not suit your taste, everyone has a different taste to sounds and music smile.gif
