hye all...still blurr to get my first DSLR....firstly i love to shoot in the street plus love to take potrait picture
so i dont know about the price of Sony Lens....is that i can get about RM400 to buy Sony prime lens?

anyone here that have another suggestion?

if u want take a lovely bokeh shots...that means u need to play with lense....
so by using pns....u also can snap a bokeh picture by playing the uses of big aperture(small value no of f) but the limits that u have are about focal length of the pns camera lenses which are limit around 10-20mm to get big aperture

so...if PnS camera....i suggests u to consider to buy canon powershot s95, olympus xz-1
both camera have the lower number aperture which are s95(f2.0) while xz-1(1.8)....
the price of both camera also around rm 1.3k rite now.....

if u have more budget...why not to go to m43 camera...
this type of camera allows user to change the lenses...

just go for canon 1100d je laa...
if u wanting suggestion for better camera's specs..
of course i will suggest to u canon 550d/600d too

for me...there is no term for beginner level camera...
if u have big budget...there is no wrong if u want to buy canon 600d, nikon d90 or so on...

what is ur main usage btw when using camera?
if u prefer more to video...and feel ok without built-in motor for camera body..

so take nikon d3100

but remember..ur lens choice after that are limited(means u no longer can get cheap nikkor lens for autofokus ability)..if u dont mind..there is no problem to buy d3100

NEX C3 and S95 should not be compared with each other because both cameras are really different in cameras category...but if u talk about DSLR-quality pictures...NEX C3 should be the winner because of camera sensor which is APS-C size(noted that APS-C sensors are usely in Nikon dslr cameras like d3100,d5100 and etc)....

sony e-mount lens issue??...i think yeah this sony lenses are not producing " superb " sharp images but that doesn't meant that this lenses are failed in terms of image quality...e mount lens still new produced by sony so the quality of images for this first timer lenses are acceptable actually...

flash?..for my usage...i rarely uses flash..so dunno what to comment about that

S95 are good compact camera...i've myself owned this camera...i think the image quality for this camera are excellent for compact cameras level...

if u seek a camera with better autofocus, better low light...both cameras i think are identical in both performance...

if ur budget around rm2k...why not to consider oly pen or pana gf...
both camera have bigger sensor size compare to xz1 or lx5..
so better IQ that u will get during night shots...

so in my opinion...get pana gf3 is fair enough for u
increase the budget little bit..u might get twin lens kit icon_idea.gif

i will go to canon 60D..
1st because it continuos shots are faster compare to D5100..
2nd 60D MP is higher

another suggestion to u...try to check sony slt a55, a65...both cameras are good option too

Basically im looking for a compact camera for my fiancee's bday present around may next year. and im planning to give her a compact camera (since she dont really like dslr coz its to big for her). At the same time i want to give the best camera to her, which is within the budget.

yaa..if u consider about the size...body + pancake lens is good combination for u to buy
right now...u might be not interested to invest in lenses, but mane la tau...after u have enjoy in photography, u might be wanna uses different kind of lenses too

fujifilm x10? also good camera for street shots
if u are fan of leica rangefinder cameras and dreams to get one leica cameras look-alike
then x10 should be an alternatives biggrin.gif

Actually i'm quite familiar with DSLR as i own one. but i need a good compact camera for travelling that give me an almost DSLR function. i have Nikon DSLR right now and planning to get P7100 at first. but after having some reading, most of the review saying that G12 is better even G12 is almost 1 year old now. But i have Nikon flashlight which i guess i can use it with P7100. and i thought P7100 is newer which suppose to have better spec (eventhough not much differ to G12). is there any rumors that G13 will be launch? should i wait for the g13? or u have better recommendation?

why not go to nikon P300 or canon s95
