Type of camera/lens/accesories : Compact
Budget: Below 2k
Your Location: KL
Preferable brand : No, as long as easy to service will do
Type of photography u want to do : Photo for leisure time with my loves 1
Any specific models in mind? : Nikon V1/J1, but would appreciate if any1 can suggest alternative model here~~
Any specific features u want? : Any function providing easy sharing features into the pc?

I am new to camera here, hence, i may miss out some important points when providing detail.
I am looking for a camera where it's convenient for protable, yet can provide me moderate quality of photo, nevertheless, Simplified UI is much needed as i m new(and i did not plan to be a pro-user)
sincerely appreciate for your advice...
thank you very much

Nikon 1's designed to be (it would seem) the iphone of cameras. Just press a button and it does pictures well, PDAF which means tracks moving subjects well, does video well. Everything controlled by the camera.

Panasonic GF series is ok too but I feel that with the zoom lens, its not balanced well for one handed operation and that the default jpeg colors are not attractive. GF2 dated in terms of capability... ISO1600 koyak while GF3 looks like a bar of soap... slippery and mono mic.

Olympus PEN line currently also blur blur wan. E-PM1 and E-PL3 feels so small until like squeezing it rather than holding it and get this feeling like gonna accidently drop the thing. No internal flash. E-P3 is for enthuasiast and expensive for what it is. Video mode also so so on them.

NEX series has the best image quality of them all. NEX-5N is brilliant in terms of capability but for useability, doesn't work well if you're looking for ... again... one handed point and shoot operation. Tak balance again. No internal flash also and if keep the bundled flash attached, then there's risk of breaking that fragile connector cover.

X10/XZ-1 on the other hand is more suited towards enthuasiast to press here press there... pening kepala to understand the quirks, limitations and the strengths of it but does reward well when user reach tahap dewa. So these aren't probably good alternatives in your case.

If I were to get another camera for my wife to shoot stills and vids of the kids... my first choice is the Nikon 1.
