Sorry, but after do some googling, I can't decide between 60D and D5100 due to the lens vs bod AF. Did try to find the debate but still can't decide. Want to ask opinion from all sifu the pro and cons. (price, choices, size, image quality etc). Or if too busy to explain, just give me the link since I can't find one. Some people also state that AF lens are easily damage compare to AF body. But i'm thinking of buying D5100 including kit-lens. BTW,what does kit-lens mean? Is it a choices of more than 1 lens? Or did they give just 1 lens? Silly question. LOL

There's no straight answer to this question. The Nikon gang will say one thing and the Canon gang will say another. There's lots of myths and hear say as well.

They are THAT close.

It's just personal preference.

Kit lens means that the lens that comes with the package.

There are different types of kit lens like the 18-105mm Nikon or 18-135mm for Canon though the most common is the 18-55mm.

Quality wise, they're usually OK good jack of all trades.

I went for the entry Canon cos the grip felt better on my hands than the equivalent Nikon at the time and that my friends are using Canon.

So, that's mean i will get a (one) lens right. At first, i think i will be given a set of maybe 3-4 lens blush.gif . LOL... Silly me. I think I'll stick to D5100. And the lens issue, I'm not thinking of changing the lens at the nearest time. And even though the lens are expensive, I still be able to buy it since I can buy the cam. Thanks for the opinion.

EP2 got built-in IS
GF2 got faster AF speed
Both can use each other's lens.
Both are old models.
If wanna do proper landscape... better get something with a APS-C sensor at least due to dynamic range.
Brand doesn't matter. Almost all brands have good and shitty stuffs.
Big hands --> 60D, Small hands --> 600D

Same with wallet too.
For better photos --> XZ-1
For better all rounder including video -- LX5
For fit into pocket --> S100
They all have 3rd party lens and they're priced the same. Besides you're not likely to fit gold and red rings into those cameras so why not just base your choice on which camp that your photo kakis are using.

That way you can test, borrow, rob their lens tongue.gif

For that price, I rather go A65/A55 for video capabilities~"

D5100 is good, just the lack of autofocus motor kills my mood.

Any specific models in mind? : pan GF3/ olympus PEN mini/ nikon J1...
Any specific features u want? : snap photo fast! to capture the moment, sth simple, don't really play with manual function, don't want to invest too much in lens, good if can have 1 len and do the whole trick, light for easier carrying. zoom further if can

actually i have a canon s95 now, pretty happy with it, just that it didn't snap quickly, zoom less...

My humble 2 cent is to hold the camera... play around with it and see which you feel most comfortable with.
Or just get what "brand" your friend is using to leech lens.

In short...

Canon:
- if don't do post processing, jpeg colors are more muted. Advantage : skin color
- EOS system's motor is in the lens so all modern Canon lens can be used. (FD lens from the 1970-1980's cannot use)

Nikon:
- if don't do post processing, jpeg color more vivid. Advantage: Landscape
- Nikon's lens system a bit more complicated http://bythom.com/lensacronyms.htm
- D5100 video can autofocus (well.. almost)

Best way is to go to the shop, and check the price first, other accessories you need add on how much compared to online shop..

another thing also you get to try the camera inside out, molest gau gau, so that you wont regret..

As above. It's purely preference.
This is more dependent on yourself as the shooter. Cheap lens no good, good lens not cheap. All brands also have one or another. There's also old manual lens that's cheap as dirt but good though you have to pusing pusing to focus.
