Hi,

I am torn between Nikon D90 and Sony A580. I have checked out both but still can't decide which one should I get.

I have surveyed the price :

Nikon D90 + Kitlens (55-105mm), 8GB memory card, tripod and sling bag - RM3,300
Sony A580 + kitlens, 8GB memory card, cleaning kit, additional 2 years warranty, tripod and bag - RM2,800.

Need advice.

Thanks

i just bought nikon D90 + kitlens (18-105mm) yesterday. Is there a 55-105mm??

erm , how bout giving extra info like what your father gear are ? ..... help to give more accurate answer ....
they u need to find your others point to support 60D ... ISO performance , sensor , weight , video , etc ...

as for the LCD .... i love the live view a LOT more than LCD ... just for reviewing is fine smile.gif  .... unless u always take bird eye view / low angle shot / video , then u may like the LCD (it is more like a bonus feature )

(that why dun really fancy a33 / a55 ) , oh a note to A33 /A55 ... i am not sure if it is just my friend ..... but the battery drain faster i guess .... may b due to the LCD view finder
*
from the feedback of a55 users..the battery can easily last them the whole day...

and what LCD are you talking about? EVERY camera has a LCD screen what...

erm , sorry if i offended u in anyway

may b it just occur to my friend that his camera battery drain off fast , just trying to mention that , since it is a EVIL ... i may drain more battery , erm get the point ?
after some Google-ing seem some a33 user experience fast battery drain , may be just minority , not sure ... doh.gif

as for LCD , if u refer to the post before , i was meaning the "swivel" LCD of 60D for live view , sorry if it cause misunderstanding

Hi all,

It seems that most people here are asking about DSLR recommendations. I hope I'm in the right place even though I would like to get a prosumer camera instead. I need some recommendation as to which camera to buy for superzoom category.

I just got myself interested in cameras recently and I kinda figured pictures look best when taken with proper camera instead of phone cameras. I like taking sceneries (which i believe the term would be wide angle), also close up pictures of computer components or nature (which i believe the term would be macro) and at random times candid or street photos.

Type of camera/lens/accessories : Superzoom Prosumer
Budget: around RM 1500
Your Location: KL
Preferable brand : Panasonic or Canon
Type of photography u want to do : Macro and some paparazzi like photos
Any specific models in mind? : Panasonic Lumix FZ-40, Panasonic Lumix FZ-100, or Canon SX30 IS
Any specific features u want? : very close to DSLR features but not a DSLR yet.

I'm in a bit of a dilemma not sure which of the above cameras to buy. I would like to get the latest versions which are FZ-100 or the SX30 IS. However, after seeing the image quality comparison HERE, I'm not sure if newer means better in terms of photo quality.

Please do advice.

Its EVF btw, if I was to correct your statement. A33 can last about 7xx shots if you reli push em. Therefore, the batt life in A33 is underrated severely.

D90 18-105 around 3.3k
You can look to 550D or A580 if you want. they are cheaper.

Ola!

Desperately need you guys help!

My current compact camera (Nikon Coolpix L6) photo taken not that sharp anymore. Maybe due to my baby girl 'accidently' drop it on the floor.

Im looking for a compact camera for easy usage. Furthermore, due to my shaky hand, its kinda difficult to take photo with 1 hand. Furthermore, the camera that can solve that problem normally will be more than RM1k.

Hope you guys can assist me here.

Thanking in advance.

Cheers!

U should make your choice whether to choose nikon or canon...it is depend on your favour.. brows.gif brows.gif
if it is canon, can try to consider 500D (much for better than 1000d)...can try to search in http://forum.lowyat.net/DigitalSLRs&Lenses quite lot of ppl selling second-hand unit..some are quite worth.. rclxms.gif rclxms.gif
if it is nikon, better top-up bit to buy D3100 (featured with 1080p full HD video recording,it is juz release few months ago).

Nikon D3000 is sufficient enough for a new beginner. Last time I was using Nikon D50 and quite satisfied until I upgraded recently. Anyway, it all depends on what do you want to shoot.

Yes you should top up for the D3100.It's a really good camera for such a price, just like the 550D for its price range smile.gif

Just note that, the D3100 has no build in AF motor inside, meaning that when you buy lenses(other than your kit lens) you need to go for AF-S lenses which are lenses that have AF motor build inside. Otherwise, you'll only have Manual Focus smile.gif

Expensive hobby eh biggrin.gif

LX5 vs D3100 is like a Kancil vs a Honda Accord smile.gif

The trouble about getting a DSLR is the investment you have to put in, due to all the lenses, flashgun, accessories as such. You'll know la once you get one smile.gif But all the image quality you get at the end of the day, is always worth while smile.gif

Nikon D3100 FTW! Great little camera, just note about getting only AF-S lenses because D3100 doesn't have a built in AF motor inside. You need to pair it with AF-S lenses to get Auto Focus smile.gif

Well yea. D3100 is better compared to a LX-5 but if you willing 2 consider other brands, there is sony A33 for you.

Well, 2.1k can get you Sony A33 with kit, if i recalled correctly. If not, D3100 maybe better but as warned by kytz, there is no Build in AF motor, therefore need 2 buy AF-S lens which are slightly more pricey.

No fight la. Beat the LX5 in every aspect except the small size tongue.gif

You don't have to know everything now, just take your time and learn along the way. Don't we all do that? smile.gif
