Anyone know how to set up the Set Top Box?

I have my UNIFI installed 3 weeks ago and I didn't set up the set top box because it will require a long wiring down to the living room from my room. Therefore, I've told the UNIFI contractor to just leave the STB aside first.

Now I realize that I can actually plug in to my monitor through HDMI cable. I just wonder can I set it up myself because I can't get through the login page.

plug in your RJ45 from LAN 4 (DIR 615) to STB
turn on your STB

reboot

I think for your case, since you already bought the unit, you may consider:

1. to flash the 841 with dd-wrt, create a vlan.500, create PPPoE and connect to BTU Port1 for internet
2. configure the DIR-615 as bridge mode and connect it to BTU Port2 for IPTV

Once TP-Link resolve the issue on HG855a, then you may flash it back. smile.gif

OMG, I just noticed something. I scheduled the installation appointment for this Tuesday. When do they call up for confirmation? I scared since this Tuesday is holiday.

The Unifi installers are private contractors hired by TM so they work 7 days a week including public holidays.

They came to my place quite punctual and it was all done in less than 2 hours.

I'm still not familiar with MikroTik and Linux command, I can't tell whether it's really working fine or sufficient enough for general usage purposes ..... sweat.gif

Appreciate anyone can advise/comment to further improve it, kindly PM or email me : klseet@gmail.com

seet,

on portforwarding, i think it is fine. i can vouch that it is working. using the same steps as well. but on firewall, you might need to wait for other mikrotik sifus to give their feedback.

About that home plug thing, I was reading that it's not recommended to plug it into anything other than the wall socket. I was thinking of plugging it into my belkin multiplug which is plugged into a proper surge protector, then to the wall socket.

I think from what i read, i'm going to see a huge degradation of quality rite?
