Hi all

my friend (an expat) came to Malaysia to work and now return to Ireland.
He subsribed Astro when he's working here and he unsubscribe it before he's back (all bill paid)

However, no one took back the dish and decoder from him.
He gave me both dish and decoder.

What can i do with this 2 device? (non-Beyond)

Can i install it at my new house and use my current smart card? (my smart card is normal package non Beyond as well)

pls advice. thanks.

Yes but you have to pay their service. Maybe they will change you around RM100 for dish installation.

for old astro decoders, you can actually share single satellite dish by using splitter, but make sure it is rated at 2GHz for satellite use, also to avoid problem, it is advisable to only let one decoder powering the LNB

I do have a situation where i have the old Astro dish (not decoder) lying down at my stores. Left by the house owner.

Can this be sold off? I believe its costly..anyone with brightest suggestion?

buy FTA decoder about RM80 and you could receive a few channels from taiwan and a lot of channels from thailand

but if are not really interested in tinkling with satellite TV, sell it to recycle centre, they pay by the kilo drool.gif

actually FTA channels are limited, some interesting programs like discovery are all encrypted

if you only have KU-band dish, you will get even less channels, however C-bnad 1.8m dish is entirely different sotry, lots of free chinese language channels

by the way FTA decoder cost about RM80 per set, ask around college students from china, sometime they import satellite equipment into malaysia from their hometown brows.gif

knock yourself out, these are the satellites that have coverage across asia region
