xperia play is damn FUGLY!

Added on February 8, 2011, 11:05 amindeed is quite worrying

from engadget:
QUOTE
UI responsiveness on the 2X can be described as mediocre, which we find a mind-boggling development as the hardware is certainly fast enough. It's important to note that applications load up as fast or faster than most other Android handsets we've come across, it's just that navigating to them and through the 2X's menus didn't feel as snappy as we would have liked.

QUOTE
Neat little tweaks to Android's default interface failed to obscure the fact that the Optimus 2X is neither as responsive nor as stable as it should be. You might be able to rectify those flaws by installing one of the inevitable avalanche of custom ROMs that this device will benefit from, but we're here to review LG's own performance and we find the failure to deliver a reliable platform inexcusable.

hahahah...i found no lag at all on my SGS
u can root n flash custom rom what....ahaks
*
but only if u install nolagfix and do some other tweakings like flash custom rom.
wat samsung provides out-of-the-box is a device dat lags, which is unacceptable to me.

maybe they xpect dat juz bcos android is customizable, they prefer to take short cut and release without proper testing.
so customers are expected to fix the problems themselves later on. shakehead.gif

from reviews, general consensus is that
1) dual-core doesn't make a difference to user experience, yet
2) camera is quite bad even wt flash
3) video recording seems OK but 1 review says it lose to iphone4 (even though LG = FullHD and iphone4=HD ready).
4) interface laggy is only reported by engadget.

hmm. dual cores doesn't really gives any significant benefits in performance, except in benchies.
*
yep. atm android is not optimized for dual-core.
but finally the smoothness may match iOS.
still it's going to chge veli fast. more apps and games will take advantage of but at 1799 is still a very good buy, after compare wt htc incredible and arc.

if lg plays its card right, samsung will be forced to react wt lower price or faster product release.

price diff only rm200, sure most of us will choose dual core..
only concern is LG support in term of the OS/etc..
*
if lg can sell more phones, they will earn more and use the money to give better support and upgrade the firmware on regular basis.
support lg.

This one more awesome!

LG is working exclusively with Celcom to offer attractive packages to the public. In conjunction with the launch of LG Optimus 2X, 300 units of this latest smartphones from LG are up for grabs. Celcom is offering additional RM100 discount plus free HDMI (High Definition Multimedia Interface) cable for these early birds, be the first to experience this brand new LG Optimus 2X from as low as RM878, savings of RM1,021.

*
well to be fair, this offer is limited to 300 units. similar kind of promotion was done for incredible 499 by digi previously.
so this is not an awesome offer after all.
