Can, no problem, but fully syn oils can be quite expensive.

no problems to use fully syn oil but you won't gain anything on a small cc engine.. just continue to use semi-syn and save $$$. usually for manual transmission gearbox it is advisable to change every 20k intervals.

How much do u run a month or every 3 months? Your monthly mileage determines the type of oil you should select. But importantly also, follow your car's manual and don't pandai2 extend your oil change interval

That's why my friend is telling me to use fully synthetic oil but I am not sure whether it is suitable or not...

I've been using mineral oil in all my cars (including the Myvi) with absolutely no problems - with the money saved, buy yourself a treat ;-)
Btw, no matter what oil you use, you still need to change your oil filters every 5,000km. So stick with mineral and service every 5,000km and that's it.

if the price is almost the same or just rm10-20 higher then why not? or else is depend on ur driving style and mileage. in my opinion, if ur driving style is high rev and/or always travel here and there, is always better for u to go full syn; and vice versa. for your info my kenari is using perodua engine oil and change every four month when it hits around 8k km with often high rev when i need. so what do u think? 1. money 2. enthusiasm on car

hi,
what about me?
I jz got my myvi last week... by default, i will be traveling around 2000k/month.
any suggestion of which oil i shud go for?
since my car is still under warranty, when i go for my 1st service, can i bring my own engine oil instead of using theirs? (Provided if the oil u suggested will be much better than the 1 they are using, of course).
Budget? Well, I hope it is not WAY too expensive lah...if im rich, i wont be driving a myvi lol.

I mean, look at taxi drivers in their ISWARA, do they use Mobil 1? Obviously they use the cheapest mineral oil they can get, but yet, they still use it and their engines are still alright. I bet they travel per month twice than others do.

whether to use fully or semi is depend driving style or trafik condition ...
use fully if
1. always drive at high rpm. 2. always stuck in jam, a lot stop and go.
so if you always drive in highway with low rpm and low stop and go, use semi.

Amsoil ASL last 25000 miles or 1 year interval. Looks like the best option for you. I just bought 4L for RM166 from another thread here. if we do the maths, it's cheaper than your 2 months (5k) mineral oil change.
add: 25k miles = ~40k km

I think I will go with Amsoil ASL and I am waiting for my friend to help me to find a better performance filter for me, may be can last for 10000~15000 km... I saw the ASL from Amsoil website that it can last for 15000~25000 miles, which means about 24000~40000 km... I have calculated and found that fully-syn will save more money than using semi-syn or mineral oil and give better protection as well...
