Hi all, I'm applying for EP using passport number 123, then if I extend my passport now, I'll get a new passport number right? Will this affect my EP application? Is EP card are linked to 1 passport number at a time?

Thanks.
*

No affect.
My EP was applied and approved with number 1234.
However, before I went to Singapore, I renewed my passport and have a new number 7890.
When you go to EPSC to register, they will update it on the spot.
Just bring along your old passport just in case they wish to check, mine was not checked.

Thanks crazy25kid. Are you Penang-kia?

In my IPA letter it states passport# 1234, so I'll need to inform them my new passport# when I'm applying for EP Card at EPSC right?
If yes I'll extend my passport before start working in SG. smile.gif
*

Yup, from Penang.
You just inform them when you are at the counter for registration. laugh.gif laugh.gif
I recommend you to change first if your passport is going to expire as it is easier to renew back in Malaysia.
Using the machine will be faster.
In Singapore, you can only renew at the embassy, not so sure but that is what I read from blogs and is quite a hassle too.
Else you will require a Singpass to update your passport details to link to your EP, if I am not mistaken.

hey all,
i got a question here.
i'm leaving sg next week after my 1 month notice after i submitted the resign letter,
den ystday i ask my boss about tax clearance etc,
he ask me to go n settle on my own while wat i saw from IRAS website saying tat company will send the form to them n calc, after that company charge it from my salary.
so wat shud i do now?
i dun wan to get into any trouble.
thx alot...
*

Just my thinking.
IRAS will not be able to calculate the amount you need to pay as different people has different tax relief and the amount will be different.
So...your employer just withhold your last pay until IRAS says that you are clear then only the employer will pay you.
Your employer will also provide you a CP21 (something like EA form).
In March, you will still have to submit the B or BE form either through paper or e-filing.
So, your employer has nothing to do except inform IRAS that you are leaving Malaysia.

anyone working in SG in IT field? (development)

My experience is a bit short on 2 years and I've sent about 15 application for vacancies in SG via Jobstreet.sg but to no avail a few months ago. (not even a call or email reply sad.gif )

however, in Msia i was able to get a job in a decent amount of time.

My friends working at SG told me that i need "connections" and that my "years of experience" has to have a bigger number in order to stand a chance.

Any advice?
*
You will need connections and also professional certifications like MCSE or Java version.
Singapore focus a lot of the papers.

hi guys, where should I go to update my S Pass details? (just update not renew). Work Pass Services Centre, the one we first collect the S Pass or MOM at River Valley?
*

Apply a Singpass and update online or request your employer to update for you.
However, employer will most likely ask you to do it yourself.
That is the answer I got from MOM when my wife asked how to update the address.

my social visit pass will expire in less den 10 days... any1 know how long is the cooling period needed before i can come in to singapore again?
*

Social visit pass as in the white card?
If so, should be immediately.
The rule is for every past 90 days, you can only be in Singapore for 60 days using that card.

ya... the white card... means i canot come in singapore for the next 30 days?? what is during the cooling period where i cannot come in and i got my pass approved??
*

If you were here for the past 2 months, then ya, you will have to wait 30 days.
I suspect that their database refresh every month.
If you pass is approved during that time, maybe the IPA can get you in...not sure.

There is rental which are 300-400 too.
If you live on high maintenance lifestyle, no amount of money will be enough.

Let me share my knowledge about rejection by MOM.
Appeal is basically up to the hiring company.
I have seen a company appeal for 2-3 times for someone I know.
Apparently the reason rejected previously were (we are suspecting only as MOM does not disclose) unrecognized tertiary education and the pay being too high (for this, hiring company needs to enclose justification on why you are worth that much)
From what that person told me, the company is also appealing for another employee for like the fifth time and still ongoing.

Thanks for the input. I'm thinking of renting a place between 6-12 months time.

Any recommendation?

You can actually try searching online for agents by district you would prefer to stay at.
Room renting should be okay.
Just my opinion.

Having said about salary, it also depends on how much you earn back in Malaysia and the salary range in Singapore.
If you are underpaid in Malaysia, most likely you would expect an increase in the number right?
As mentioned before by others, you need to know the salary range in Singapore and gauge where you will be in.

I've worked in Singapore for almost 15 years now. My educational level is still SPM or 'O' level equivalent.  I've found a permanent job on my 4th selection. It's an average but long hour job to commit but guess I survives the odds.   I've been with the company for 8 year now. Starting salary with basic SGD850  and allowance about SGD450 back in 2004 when I was about 24 year old.

Now, I'm 35 year this year. I'm getting fix pay average SGD3.5K every month now.

So, if you're offered SGD2.4K with much restriction better don't start with that kind of path. SGD2.5K are usually for best POLY student from Singapore.

For a MASTER holder, I advice you to look for something above SGD3.5K. Otherwise, you have a long road ahead just like me. Wasted your youth working without be able to put more time on family and beloved friends.

Average for a Metro Guy, a month expenses is about SGD1.5K a month. Living alone and stay very near to workplace.

Average for a wise but odd looking guy that could've save a lot of cash, a month average expenses is about SGD1K or less but would have spend much on food and entertainment.

This would be remittance right?
I did take a look at the form before, I think there's a $20 charge from DBS.

Apart from that, will CIMB charge any fees for receiving remittance from Singapore?
*

I tried Pay2Home.
Fix rate of S$9 per transaction to Malaysia.
No hidden charges.
Not sure if there is any other better options.
Can I refer you to register (which is free)? laugh.gif laugh.gif

hi, me and my wife is leaving to SG this Friday. My current company HR has prepared a borang CP 21 and ask me to submit to LHDN to clear 2011 tax. however, my wife's employer did not prepare this for her. Is this a compulsory thing before we leave the country?

Thanks.
*

It is compulsory for the company to issue it, but for me, the company submitted to LHDN. laugh.gif laugh.gif
It is just like a procedure if you leave the country, just like withholding your last salary pay.
After that, they approve the release of your last pay.
To avoid red tape, they can give you EA form following year instead (just like you never told them you leaving the country)

CP21 kinda looks like EA form which is not all you need to file income tax.
If you have PCB, you need that sheet too as CP21 does not include those information. sweat.gif sweat.gif (You may have to request from your company)
Other relieves like insurance will only be sent to you next year.
Just remember to file next year during income tax season.
