Thanks for the earlier feedback. Currently will only have Employee Pass after pass my med checkup.

Hopefully tomorrow can secure a room located near Jurong Point. Anyone have any idea how much the average rental there? Found a room for sgd500 with internet+heater+aircon+util bill, staying with singaporean landlord
*
I am staying near jurong point too.....working in tuas. As for rental, 500sgd inclusive of internet, heater, aircon and PUB is a steal. I only managed to find an equivalent room last month for sgd550.

If they landlord looks ok, I suggest you rent the place asap.

Btw, pls check whether the landlord really owns the unit. You have to be sure that this offer is not a scam.

guys...do u need me to compile all these food related post?
our own cari cari makan

It will make a great guide for us to satisfy our cravings when we're long way from home. Have to thank you in advance.

Oh btw, I found a stall selling very good char kueh teow at the outside hawker centre at Jurong Point. The kueh teow is of similar standard to the malaysian version but it does not have prawns in it. The kueh teow only comes with lap cheong, egg and veggie.

As for ramly burger, I usually go to tanjung pagar ktm station to satisfy my sinful craving. However, the quality is really a far cry compared to the burger truck stall @ss15 subang jaya. The patty they used is not the actual ramly one but I would say the overall taste is somewhat similar to the actual ramly burger. On top of that, you could also get some teh tarik and goreng pisang at the ktm station. If you decide to go there, pls keep in mind that the station will be closed down by mid of this year.

But the sg government do not give the working visa to my sister's friend because they say she still owe the money except she pay all one short...
if loan rm48k then how do we just pay 1 short when fresh graduate... cry.gif
*
That is totally untrue. I personally owe PTPTN RM36k and yet I am currently working in Singapore. In fact, my EP was approved in just one day. Perhaps your sister's friend haven't been paying back the loan promptly?

fellow senior, what's the easier method to transfer money from SG to MY? currently holding CIMB and Maybank acc in Msia and only POSB in SG.

btw, anyone living in proximity of jurong west st24? damn bored here cry.gif
*
All money changers at jurong point provides remittance service. Just give them the money + Malaysia account details + sgd10 remittance charge. The rates they provide is pretty competitive I would say. I transfer monies every month to my Malaysia Standard Chartered account.

I stay at jurong west street 64. Wanna meet up?

seem like you're 1 month senior than me hahaha. i came here on christmas last year. dont like the life here? i feel like no life lol.

5.45am wake up from bed till 7pm reach home... although only 1 hour spend on transportation...
*
My routine is very similar to you.

I wake up @6.00am daily and work till 5pm. Reach jurong point by 6.00pm. Transportation is provided by my company's bus so I can sleep on the bus lol.

I think the char kuay teow stall outside of jurong point (in between mrt and jp) is quite good leh. The standard can easily rival those found in KL but nowhere near the standard of Penang's one.

As for cheap western food, I always love to eat at Botak Jones in Clementi. One big plate of burger with 2 side dishes only cost me $8.50

The Indonesian restaurant besides NTUC FairPrice ! Their ayam penyet is super nice, always crowded during lunch hour.
But the indon restaurant very pricey eh for a low income engineer like me. I only eat there once a month.

Now mostly surviving on hawker food =.=

I'm thinking of walking to Macritchie to Bukit Timah via the treetop walk. It will be too easy if just hike up bukit timah alone.

Now election season mah. I think you were a victim of bad timing.

Re-apply again after the cooling off period. The election fever should have worn off by then.

Hey guys , I got offered with SGD 2.3k but with 2 years bond ... It's a shipyard company ...

Personally, I am expecting atleast 2.5k which eligible for me to apply for EP . I think this employer is not going to apply EP for me given that range of salary ?

Btw, Im fresh graduate with master but only has internship as working experience.

Do you think I am underpaid given that I have to be bonded with the company for 2 years ? ...
*
Sounds like this company is trying to squeeze you dry. I'm sure there are other better options around...keep looking!

FYI, I started at 2.5k fresh grad and was increased to 2.75k after confirmation. I only have a bachelor eng degree.

Don't take my after confirmation salary as an absolute figure. My boss was happy with my performance so he gave me a 10% increment. Yours may vary.

May I know what engineering are you ? Civil ?
Working in the oil and gas process industry (and a bit of marine) based in Tuas. FYI, my job came without a bond.

I seriously suggest you look for other jobs or try to nego a bit higher. 2.3k is way too low even for marine industry standards.

I think many are still getting this kind of figure .. as a starting pay

But was it very long ago ? when u started off with your companY ?
*
Nearly half a year ago. I am allowed to claim OT btw (capped at $450) so I consider myself better off paywise than many of my peers in this industry.
