I just had a phone interview with one of the foreign banks in SG. All went well but my three months notice period totally turn him off... He told me they are urgently looking for someone to start working in a month time. So I suggested to him that he can "buy off" my notice period if he is keen on me. But he seems totally not sure how this works.

By the way, I am applying for the position of Analyst for Portfolio Analytics.

A recruiter cant decide on the phone on this matter, if he thinks your worth it. He'll most probably defer this to his superior, but then again there are other "you" who can join without the notice period.

The HOD himself interviewed me just now. Yes agree with you, in this case they will most likely look for someone who has shorter notice period and can start immediately. Aih... sad.gif

if the offer is good, why not u buy urself out. lets say if you are getting RM5k salary, but they are offering you $5k, if you look at it in long run, definitely you can afford to buy urself out.

Yes, absolutely. He just gave me a range because only HR can decide on the exact amount. Let's see whether they come back to me or not. smile.gif

Since your boss said it's not an issue, then it's okay.

Oh... just remind him to give you a letter of indemnity should the bank take action against you. Since he says it's okay, he shouldn't mind.

ok thanks.. i will jot this down.. "letter of indemnity" thumbup.gif

my future employer just submitted my EP application today and my joining date is 4/4... we are a bit concern whether we can get the approval before 4/4 or not.. :/

apparently there is some delay in the submission because they are not familiar with twining programme. they question me how come my college name is APIIT but degree cert was issued by some UK university.. and the word "APIIT" is not on the cert at all.. haha..

hi, me and my wife is leaving to SG this Friday. My current company HR has prepared a borang CP 21 and ask me to submit to LHDN to clear 2011 tax. however, my wife's employer did not prepare this for her. Is this a compulsory thing before we leave the country?

Thanks.

It is compulsory for the company to issue it, but for me, the company submitted to LHDN.  laugh.gif  laugh.gif
It is just like a procedure if you leave the country, just like withholding your last salary pay.
After that, they approve the release of your last pay.
To avoid red tape, they can give you EA form following year instead (just like you never told them you leaving the country)

CP21 kinda looks like EA form which is not all you need to file income tax.
If you have PCB, you need that sheet too as CP21 does not include those information.  sweat.gif  sweat.gif  (You may have to request from your company)
Other relieves like insurance will only be sent to you next year.
Just remember to file next year during income tax season.

thanks! very informative... smile.gif

my wife has already requested from them just now but they said need one week to prepare. by that time we already left the country. in this case, will she have any difficulty in leaving or re-entering malaysia next time?

hmm.. the officer gave me a 2010 income tax form but she crossed out the 2010 and put it as 2011 by using marker pen... sweat.gif she asked me to fill up and submit back to them tmr together with 2010 EA form. so do i still need to file my income tax next year? shocking.gif i am kinda confused by this... hmm.gif
