Since u're working at Shenton Way which is near to Tanjong Pagar MRT, I suggest u stay near green line..west area not too bad..You can consider Clementi, Commonwealth, Queenstown etc as well...Tiong Bahru n Redhill might be more expensive though.. I stay in Clementi, just took 20+ mins MRT to reach Tanjong Pagar ^^

Any area I can get common room rate around S$400-500 and not that far off from Alexandra Road (only reachable by bus)?

Since i face the same situation like ba5tard before, i gonna share this.

For what i know, after staying in Singapore for 60 days, you need to go back Malaysia and stay there for at least 30 days, that is what the white card stated.

Then again, u can re-enter Singapore after 14 days time. BUT... here is the problem, instead of getting 30 days stay, they will cut it into half, only 14 to 15 days allowed. AND... here is another prob, within that 15 days, you can't extend your stay in Singapore anymore.

I try enter using IPA before and i can tell you this, they dun care shit about your IPA.
So here is my advice, you can stay in Malaysia first, until you are confirm to get your EP in Singapore, then you enter and settle it within 15 days.
*
OMG! IF this is true I'm screwed... I will be starting to work tomorrow. And I'll be doing my finger printing this Friday at EPSC then Saturday I've bought flight back Msia, Then Sunday back here again... I hope they do not stop me from entering SG...

Either most major supermarket or your local wet market.

Ive found you get a better selection and fresher fruits from the wet markets. Unfortunately my wet market nearby my place was closed down and replaced with a shen siong supermarket.

QUOTE(cikopek @ Mar 3 2011, 11:24 AM)
Fairprice fruits are quite cheap SGD1.55 for 5 South african apples.
Most of their fruits are quite fresh & have plenty of variety compared to Sheng Shiong
*
Thanks for the feedback. Really helps me smile.gif
I made most of my grocery purchase at FairPrice too.... just fruits wise i not really compare with others yet...

Perhaps you are mistaking loneliness, the fact you're away from family and friends, and the reality of having to adapt to a new work & personal environment - as representing the "life here".

It's something every foreign immigrant has to deal with.
*
For my case, I like my new work environment and the area I'm staying is very convenient t travel by bus and train and buy groceries. But not the house where I stay cause not used to stay with owner... still sourcing for room with no owner... haha.

Anyway, is it normal to face very unstable 3G connection if we staying at high floor? I'm staying on 21st floor and 3G connection here is very bad... need to refresh few times only can load a page...

Hi all, can we print Air Asia boarding pass at Changi Airport? Is there any charges? I just performed web check in and realized I'm unable to print boarding pass.

By the way, if I signup Singtel postpaid plan, I'll need to pay a 1 time activation & sim fee right? What if I port to Starhub next month, do I still need to pay the 1 time activation/sim fee when porting?

Thanks.

To Malaysian EP holder, do you bring along your passport and Malaysian IC with you wherever you go?
Is it enough to bring only EP card?

Thanks all for reply. Reason I'm asking is I'm new here and I think the only time I'll need to use passport or Malaysia IC is when applying for banking account or phone line, etc. Rest of other time I think EP = IC in Singapore so I only bring with me my EP. Correct me if I'm wrong.

EP is not IC in Singapore, it's just a work pass, a permit to work.
*
I see. But is it the only documents we can use to identify ourselves in SG aside from passport?
For passport I dont think will bring it with me all along due to the huge size and I don't wanna damage or bend if while keep in pocket...

As for Malaysian IC, I'm not sure if we can use this document to identify ourselves in SG?

oh ya, when u wanna recontract phone line or subscribe to anything, they will ask for ur passport also. EP alone is not good enough. like if u go RWS or MBS, even with the EP u can enter casino, but if u wanna apply for their member card, you still need to show the your passport.
*
Thanks Lester. Seems like aside from applying or register for something, I hope EP is sufficient... don't like to bring too many things out with me to reduce chance of losing it...

Hi all, I'll be starting work at Singapore next month. I'm currently looking for a place to stay and I've some enquiries.

1.) Did you find your place using an Agent?
2.) Is it the norm for a 1 year contract to be signed?
3.) How much was your deposit and is it true that rental in Singapore is 1 month forward?
4.) How much was your Agent fees?

Thanks in advance.
*
1. Mine is direct thru owner via postings at bus stop
2. No, you ca nego with the owner/agent on the term you prefer, but if thru agent you'll need to pay half month rental as agent fee
3. by default 1 month deposit and 1 month rental, so total 2 months
4. depend on the room/unit you going to rent

Anyone used ATM5? I read there's no charges if we withdraw via participating ATM5 networks. Just want to confirm this...
