no Apple products are cheap. but if u wan cheaper, i can get a bit discount for you depends on what item u want. But if u really want cheap, then go for those China Brand pirated Apple products.
*
I wanna get the MacBook Air 13" 128gb model by this or the next month + APP. Anyone can get discount higher than 10% smile.gif

No, you need to renew your passport. Must have at least 6 months before expiry date.
*
i dun think the 6 months apply to Singapore-Malaysia.

Nop, will be working at HP. smile.gif
Yes, the norm is S$60k for most banks. But I do recall there was a bank that require foreigner income to be around S$40 or 45k only... but could not recall which bank for now. I'll check all available banks in SG and browse thru their cards section to find a suitable card for me...
*
I don't think bank got say in such matter coz it's control by Monetary Authority of Singapore, just like Bank Negara in Malaysia.
anyway, do consider citibank, they have a lot of dining discounts, the citibank Manhattan have cashback. DBS also not bad, got discount for lots of small eateries place, but for me, free membership for as long as I stay employ with my current company smile.gif

work in Kranji, you can live in JB and save a lot of $$ for rental. and u also get to enjoy your Malaysian life style if u live in JB. Not really sure why, but i like the Malaysian life style more than Singapore life style. Malaysian chinese kopitiam got sell chinese tea ice and also herbal tea. And i find it much better than Singapore food. But you need to sacrifice your fast broadband connection though.
*
I gave up all those for SAFETY. Crime rate in JB is just too high. Not a place I want my kids to grow up in. Another is the bureaucracy in the Government sectors.

harlo.. need 2 ask for opinion, recently i complained i had to go to work on weekends and i am facing difficulty getting cab, so my boss says he will get me a new 325i but i have to forfeit my this year's bonus (5 figures) so i was thinking is this worth it? i can have the car for 10 years if i am still in the company, but on and off he will surely ask me to fetch ppl. maintenance by company ins, erp and fuel self. btw, company is very chinaman, i am sure i will be made to work hard for it. i dont have sg license yet and i have been here more than a year.
*
besides the car itself there is actually a lot of payment you gotta make. 1st is insurance, new driver license, for a bimmer we are looking ar sgd$3k for the 1st year ? Then road tax around sgd$1k/year. If you stay in HDB then there's parking fees sgd$90 per month. What about car servicing ?

yeaps, i will be able to use it personally, but any charge incurred for leisure have to pay it myself... cab sometimes not nice when i have guess from other countries, boss dont want to fetch them.... so i think a bit funny ask ppl to take cab... not leh, have to fetch ppl.. if i do that i will lose my msian license?

*
nowadays if you get the letter from JPJ they will 'blacklist' you in the system, unless you decide last minute not to convert and return back the letter. But no worries coz you can use Sg license to drive a Malaysia register car. Lot of us are doing that. Best part is, the driving license is sgd$50 for life (PR & Singaporean only), the rest is sgd$50 for 5 years iirc.

Really off-topic question.

Usually whatever I buy in Singapore I escape paying tax because my family will bring it when they come back to KL by car.
But now, if I go to SG and buy something big, like a motorbike helmet or a dvd recorder and I carry it in the bus, will I have to pay tax at the Malaysian customs?

Many thanks in advance
*
yes. you have to pay tax no matter how you carry it. what mode of transport gotta do with tax ? hmm.gif

So it's not possible for me to keep the box?
Cause it will be a dvd recorder.
It would be inconvenient to carry it around without a box.
And it might damage the device.

So the other way is for me to say that it's a gift?
Are you sure they won't make me pay tax?

Many thanks in advance
*
let's draw a fine line between bringing in legally and smuggling. DVD recorder is a taxable item, as simple as that. Saying you won't be tax when bring in only one is just plain stupid.
Going to green lane means nothing to declare, if you are caught failing to declare a taxable item = smuggling. And smuggling fines are much higher that taxes, maybe 10X ?

Saying all that, I just wanna let you know, over the years I've successfully brought smuggled across a dvd player, playstation, x-box, modem, router, wireless phone, abalone, unopened mobile phones, ...etc etc by bike

But this only applies if you bring items from malaysia into singapore right, not vice versa since i recently brought over my PS3 from singapore to malaysia and back again and nobody ever asked me anything. even after going through the x-ray.
*
No lar, it's from Singapore to Malaysia. Malaysia side will tax. It's depend on luck sometimes .... I noticed they are a bit slack during certain time, so ...play smart when you wanna 'smuggle' rclxms.gif

i lost my Malaysian passport today at Klang!!! I'm working in Sg...die lah how long will it take for them to issue me a passport or is it possible to give a temporary travel document/restricted passport? Shitttt....
*
I think you gotta go for an interview with the immigration officer. From what I heard so far, they will only issue you with 2 year validity passport the 1st time round. It'll take roughly 1-3 months for a new passport. Maybe you could ask them about the temporary passport, like get a temporary passport to enter Sg and do a new passport at Malaysia High Commission.
I have a colleague who work in Sg, stays in JB and lost his passport in JB, so he gotta apply for 1 month leave to get it sorted out.
