"Examples of wrongful claims: Travelling expenses incurred to and from home and office."

If it's business travel, you would have claimed from your company already.

ok thanks.. i will jot this down.. "letter of indemnity"  thumbup.gif

firstly dun think ur gona get that letter, especially from a bank, unless ur the CEO and ur in a position to demand.

But with reasonable assumption, i would also say it shoud be okay as well.

it's very common for candidates to pull back on their signed offer letter. especiaally in the banking industry

but the following u nid to bear in mind:

1. U will never ever get to apply for that bank again. i.e. blacklist. blacklist from the headhunter as well, if any.

2. make sure they havent make any EP application for u. if they did, they nid to cancel ur EP application from MOM and ur exsiitng bank will have to apply for u from the MOM. This is a good reason for MOM to rejecft EP application (which is a favourate topic recently). SG want to cut down foreigners. End up u won't be aboe to come over to SG.

I would suggest the counter offer to be both in SGD and RM. So in case u can't get an EP, u will still the high pay in RM.

Hi,

Is there any websites to introduce where I can look for short term accommodation (~6 months) with 1 bedroom HDB apartment?

Thanks!

aihh.. headache ar.. i just signed the letter offer with a bank in SG. the day i tender my resignation, my boss yumcha with me and told me he wants to retain me by relocating me to SG, of coz with a better offer.. i told him i already signed the LO but he said it is not an issue.. :/ am i subject to legal action if i turn down the offer which i already accepted?

anyone experience this before? icon_question.gif

It really depends on the company and at which stage you're at. Most importantly has the company applied for your EP. If they have, they need to cancel your EP, and along the process they can let MOM know what you have done.

At this point it's a grey area and I would advice against retracting your offer once the EP has been approved.

Why? I have seen people's EPs being rejected a couple of times for the above scenario.

If they have not applied for your EP, you can retract the offer letter. However, you should take note of the "clauses" in the offer letter that you have signed. Most companies would be ok to just "accept the fact". However.... sometimes once in a blue moon things might happen. brows.gif

Noted from the list and saw some interesting deductible to ask:

1.  Expenses for public transport to work. I suppose its only applicable to taking taxi? Thos taking mrt/bus and pay by ezlink would not have proper receipt iguess.

2.  Professional fees  -> Do you need to have the original receipt? Cos mine only sent an email confirmation of my payment.

3.  Tax rebate. I only saw for YA2009 and YA2011. How bout YA2010?

4.  Deductions for life insurance premium. If i pay in RM, what rate do u use to convert?

Would appreciate if you can share your experiences. notworthy.gif

1) Seantang had answered.

2) Online key-in do not need any document but you keed the email in case they call you to provide proof. normally they don't call.

3) SG Gov may give some tax rebate at certain time, it is like a bonus from time to time.

4) Use the average rate at the time you login. Iirc there is a cap... S$2000 per year. Do you have insurance here? Consider one if you intend to work here for long term and you have dependant, especially the medical/hostipal type. Company group insurance usually have a better deal. Check with your HR.

Lucky i guess... nod.gif

Got it within a few hours itself from the submission date of HR online earlier this month. Pretty efficient system. Have applied to open a bank account after confirming my flat lease - now pending the EP card itself so that I can proceed with postpaid phone line / broadband / TV application etc

Thanks for the input. I'm thinking of renting a place between 6-12 months time.

Any recommendation?

You can actually try searching online for agents by district you would prefer to stay at.
Room renting should be okay.
Just my opinion.

It is not about tax rebate. If any serious things happen and you have to stay in local hospital for some time, your existing MY insurance may not be enough to cover all your expenses. If you can get a good deal from your company group insurance then it helps to complement your existing insurance policy. At least you have a policy that pays SGD, that's my point

If you already have SG insurance policies then I wont advice getting another MY insurance policy base on current exchange rate.

no ler.. usually mnc are more open to negotiations, if you cant perform worse come to worse less increment next year

wherelse for chinaman, they would find ways to make the extra increment worth it

above 5k can live comfortably if you're single.. less than that better get more so it can make ur life easier here
