1st report i want to say is

1. no scratch i can found except my own made. 
2. all fit nice (screen, button, top and bottom case)
3. but this 1 make me worried. tried Tron trailer but it color not nice. same like someone here. forgot who    in the middle movie suddenly hang and died      cannot on!
so scared liao. just now tried charge then can on.play Tron trailer maybe ok abit

In the begining of last weekend, I posted the above text and, despite all my efforts, there was no way to revive my N8;

preparing it to go to the repair centre the following morning, I removed both the SIM and Memory cards.



At 10am of Saturday the 27th, I tried to power up my N8 one last time and incredibly, it turned ON!!! My beloved N8 returned from the dead!



As it was fully charged and without the SIM card, I decided to do a test with it, to see how long would the battery last in standby without any of the cards (sim and mem). At the end of the 1st 24h, the NBM was still showing an amazingly 95%, which meant that roughly it could get going in that state for a total of about 480h;



Once those 1st 24h past, I decided to add the SIM card to the phone.



Once the SIM was inserted, NBM completely changed the remaining battery percentage, and after another 24h, the phone showed me only a total of 19% of battery to use, which meant that exactly in the same conditions as the 1st 24h, but with the SIM inserted, the phone could only go for a total of about 31,5h (standby no apps running) with the battery fully charged.



Now I am running another test.



I fully charged my N8, removed the SIM card and inserted the 16gb mem card, and I've been listening to music for 3h10m now, and the NBM shows 93% of remaining battery. This means that with the phone in offline mode (without the SIM inserted), the phone can continue to play music for about 42,85h which is not that far from what Nokia states in the specs (50h in offline mode), when compared to all the remaining specs...



This means that:



1 - the mem card isn't draining any battery in my case

2 - the battery I'm using, seems to be fine, as it works alright with no SIM

3 - the problem right now, seems to be the SIM card, because even when the phone is in offline mode, if the SIM is inserted in the phone, the battery life expectancy is very short



So my question is, how can thee SIM card be draining battery, even when the phone is on offline mode?



Could it be that some of the SIM card slot connections is tripping the battery?



What do you lot think?



(by the way, I'm so happy that the phone didn't really die! at least not yet...)
