QUOTE(nairud @ Nov 30 2010, 10:36 AM) I've never driven a Civic '08 before in real life.. does it really have a tendency to oversteer? nope fd2r handling behavior veers more towards understeer than oversteer as with most FF cars. the old dc2 feels slightly twitchier behind bcoz of of softer suspension setup as compared to the fd2r, which is why it is so bumpy on the road. and the range of tires in gt5 is pretty accurate as it seems. stock fd2r comes with re070 which are street tires (in GT definition comfort tires even though they are not comfortable at all!), next are semi slicks (sports) tires like toyo r888/yoko ao45 and lastly full slicks (racing).

QUOTE(nairud @ Nov 30 2010, 11:03 AM) sure or not? my colleague who drives a Civic also say it oversteers even babyk and zuljag said so bro it's not that easy to oversteer in an FF car ok, unless u violently throw the car into the corner, which you are not supposed to. at sepang t5 & t6, when i take the corner at 125-130km the front tires are sliding but the back stays intact, if i were to maintain full throttle going into t5 i would get even more understeer coz front tires struggling to deliver power+grip. another way for it to oversteer is to fit botak tires behind so that the back kicks out during corners due to lack of grip. so far ive not oversteered in my car but understeered alot going too fast into corners.

i really do hope they add more features for online racing. right now, it is kinda plain n repetitive. at least should give option to create a point based championship. also should give us the ability to create online games by limiting more options such as drivetrain, make, tyre restriction etc

i bought the Toyota Sprinter Trueno GT-APEX (AE86) Shuichi Shigeno 2000 off the used car dealer for ~52k credits...the car kicks ass, damn freaking fast. can easily beat alot of the more modern cars, plus ive not modded anything at all.

QUOTE(aaron_15ryderz @ Dec 1 2010, 12:48 PM) i got more gold using DS3.. using wheel kinda hard.. to be honest, it is actually easier to drive on the ds3. certain cars require lightning fast countersteering inputs, which is just too tough with the wheel. with ds3 just a flick of the thumb is enough. prime example is the TGTT lotus challenge with all aids off.

QUOTE(Carmarlo @ Dec 1 2010, 02:00 PM) i manage to golded the Top Gear Test Track Lotus Challenge just now...dunno how many times i tried b4 succeed..best part is i wheelie my car in the process before overtaking the red car in front in the very last corner (langgar cone tgh jalan punya pasal)..if not because of the wheelie i think i can manage to overtake him on hammerhead on 2nd lap..anyway luck play major part here..just memorize every car's movement and don't give up..in the end you will handle the car like second nature.
Tips: 1. Turn every aids ON since the major requirement is to use Comfort:Hard tyres. That's the main purpose of the challenge: to survive on using that tyre. (In reality, that Lotus Elise use Sports tyres so it should't handle like that). My setup in general is ABS 4, TC 1, Skid Recovery Force ON, Active Steering MILD. There are many setup out there, its all depend on your liking. 2. Watch the AI and memorize what they do. Seems like they're programmed to run a certain line and brake at certain points. Use this to your advantage. 3. Easy up on the throttle when cornering. Don't floor it when you are on low speed corner. Only floor it when going straight. 4. Use just a little bit of drifting into the first corner. 'Potong' the 1st car on the outside and if can second car on the inside. 5. Use 'power slides' going into Follow-through corner. (that corner into the big road/runway there with many cones on your right) 6. If can use side of opponent's car when cornering at the low speed corner. 7. You can hit the orange/white cone @ right side going into chicago corner (you can overtake some car here after langgar the cone). Also use this to your advantage. Just make sure don't hit the solid orange colour cone wherever in the track. 8. If you manage to get 3rd position when passing the finish line into 2nd lap..you have high chance of passing the 1st car through Hammerhead or through the very last corner. If 4th place slim chance but very possible (depends on luck). 9. Watch Youtube video to get some idea.
Hope that helps. Btw im using steering and that help too..alot. And to sum up here's a momento of that finish. GOOD LUCK!
haha i wheelied the lotus on the con in the same challenge as well. i might need to switch on TC & ABS for this challenge. so far now, with the ds3 i still go full throttle even before exiting the corner but need alot of countersteering and sometimes when u catch the slide wrongly, all hell breaks lose. but noticed 2nd last corner AI slow down damn a lot. probably can catch most of them there.

QUOTE(senzr @ Dec 1 2010, 04:42 PM) Japanese turbo 4wd la, haha. No doubt I'm still quite a noob on the track in real life, but the GT experience taught me how to deal with understeer, oversteer, etc. Playing GT also helped me to go for the apex and increase corner exit speed. There are so many articles online about real world race drivers and motoring journalists comparing real cars to GT. The forward in the R1 GT5P was written by Sam Mitani, the editor of Road & Track magazine. The guys at EVO magazine in the UK play it regularly to practice. My friend even drove on the Nurburgring after memorising it in GT. imo, real life tracking is still way better than GT but more expensive. GT allows you to push to the limits coz no risk involved. But nothing beats braking from the 150m mark from ~190km/hr where u will feel the Gs pushing u forward, it feels like you cannot make it and gona crash, just in time for engine braking to come in to further slow down the car. the feeling of whether the car will hold or give during cornering. some of the basics in GT will definitely help tracking but i think irl u need more precision n balls. plus it's not that cheap to be regularly tracking, wear n tear parts like tyres, brake pads, fluids etc need replacement for your car to stay tip top.
