Bro, look at our topic banner at 1st page and you will be able to see the interactive (main) menu interface of GT5..anyhow, I've attached below for your viewing pleasure..

NOPE! It is fix to your right..the plastic is attached together..no way u can remove it or switch it to your left... too bad cuz i am using 1 too...

bind your gear shift? hm..i guess u r saying that you wanna configure the buttons at the front of the wheel as your gear shifting buttons..correct? erm..actually u don need to cuz DFGT has a "paddle shifting" like buttons at the back of the wheel..it is not as good as those g series wheels (25/27) but it allows you to change gears by pressing it..left side button = shift down, right side button = shift up...

hm..what i have read is related to the following:

1) Improve Damage Realism
2) MP - Leaderboard & Invitation
3) Some other patches & bugs fixes to smoothen the gameplay (especially on the regular connection to the internet that slows the offline gameplay)

I got these from various sources thru other forums and articles..so not sure it is true or not... but if these are the fixes, it should make GT5 even greater!!!

This is apparently the November 27th update that Yamauchi mentioned to Eurogamer, which will “double” the game’s online capacity from 500,000 to one million simultaneous connections."

Dont know u got it solve ady or not but just to share:

there is a small screw in the big hexagon plastic where u use ur hand to loosen or tighten your dfgt..just use screwdriver to take it off, then u can completely remove the hexagon plastic..then u can install it at your thick table and tighten it back..
