not sure bout the price but i heard is very expensive plus is very unstable... very easy to get blue screen

the way it works is all client pcs must have a same spec, and use 1 server to control all the other client but for the server it only able to support up to 60 pcs and cannot more then it... somemore u need a high spec computer to run raid mode, and have a good network cabling.

i would like to recommand you to use back those using hard disk system, more stable

There are pros and cons. Pros, it is much easier to maintain as only 1 update has to be done to control. But trust me. You will want to convert it back as you will encounter issues. These issues varies, even from unexpected delays, freezes, blue screens. In terms of cost, I'd say it is cheaper and easier to maintain which has come to an option for most cybercafes.

Hi all.

For diskless client solution, what software is used? Is it even legal? What is the best one?

There are a few in the market but they target mainly the enterprise customer, hence they cost a lot. The best one is the one that you can afford. You not only need to consider the cost of the software you'll also need to size the backend servers and network infrastructure to support it.

Of course they are legal becausent each client still run the operating system that you licensed for.

Diskless client solution is suitable for light to medium usage environment such as computer labs or call center. For cybercafe, the challenge is handling the heavy IOs going back to the servers.

Only a few internet cafe maintenance service company are using diskless solutions. I presumed u wanted to open an internet cafe. Currently most internet cafe in competitive area ie an area with a lot of customers and competitior are using Internet Cafe Maintenance service company to help maintain the internet cafe hardware and content solutions. If u r planning to start an operation in a competitive area, u will need to have a team to maintain the content update and also the hardware.

Your requirement has already been done. The limit is to have all the network hardware running at cat 6 cable, gigabit switch, a reasonable ratio would be 100 clients to 1 server, under the assumption 100 clients is running else there should ratio at 120 to 1.
